Re: Album 14 Speculation :3
I have no idea why people think there is misdirection here. He stated in the interview quite clearly that he was about to ask Iggy Azalea for permission to do a parody, and if so they would record it the next day and have the album out IN JULY!!!!!! It's happening!!!

Watched some Iggy A interviews, and she seems pretty laid back, and as they said in that YouTube clip she has a sense of humor. Would be a bit of a surprise and a letdown if she refused Al, so I'm very much anticipating a July release!

Btw, how much notice does al have to give his label? I've seen 6 weeks and 8 weeks.

From what I've heard, the label needs about two months notice:

Definitely an eventful day today!Ask Al Archive June 6, 2007 wrote:Susan M of Tallahassee, FL asks: How come the DualDisc doesn't contain the video for "White & Nerdy"? It's a fantastic disc, a fantastic song, and a fantastic video; I just don't understand why there are lots of other (great) videos but not that one.
We weren't able to finish that video until just a couple weeks before the scheduled release of the album. I would have included that video if I could have, but to do so would have meant delaying the release of "Straight Outta Lynwood" by a couple months, and obviously I wanted to get the album out as soon as possible (before the parodies got too dated).

Re: Album 14 Speculation :3
Alicia raises a very intriguing point here. How the hell WOULD Al tackle this video? I mean, I'm having a hard ENOUGH time trying to figure out what his concept for the SONG might be. He could probably have that yellow plaid outfit made as a men's suit rather than a schoolgirl uniform and for for a look that's less "Clueless" and more "King of Comedy" (not as much the Steve Harvey/Bernie Mac movie as much as the Robert Deniro/Jerry Lewis one form the '80s, although I guess both could work). He could probably just get Alicia Silverstone to cameo (or better yet, just use her as his body double without telling anyone. Oh well, I guess we'll have to find out what this parody is actually going to be about before we can make any educated guesses there.yankochick38 wrote:ETA: hey yo Al if you're doing a Clueless themed video also and need teen girls I am ready
CLUELESS you gUYS
Idk if he'd do Clueless but CLUELESS
What if Paul Rudd omg
Nah no that's not

Also, Al posted some photos on his own Instagram from this event and this tweet surfaced from the same producer who posted the original Instagram photo I linked to. Personally, I would have my reservations about him trying to sell that footage to TMZ. He/they should at least wait until Al confirms the release of the album/single. Although it's not 100% confirmed yet that she gave clearance, the wording of that tweet seems to realistically indicate she did (and even on the very slight off-chance she didn't that morning show crew seems to have his back and could've probably coerced her in person). Still, eventually it could be interesting to see actual footage of Al getting someones' permission for parody as I believe this may be the first time such footage would legitimately exist (and not just a reenactment like the Micheal Jackson werewolf castle scene from "The Compleat Al").
This is all very exciting news! Hopefully, we can expect an announcement of the albums release date within the next week or month! Maybe Al is exaggerating when he says the album could be out in July rather than August or September, but who knows? It's only the first week of June so if it's really a six-to-eight week deal we're tlaking about, a late July/early August release would probably give Al's label just enough time to confirm a release date in advance. It shouldn't take very long to record, either.
I can see just Jim and Bermuda handling the drum/keyboard sequencing on their own there. This sounds just like a song/composition they could easily knock out in their sleep. It could be the least challenging sequenced parody they've ever recorded. On that note, I do have to wonder how Al is going to sing the Charli XCX part of the song (or how he got/plans to get her permission for that matter). I mean, that hook/chorus may be the only part of the song Al has to worry as much about changing the key to fit his vocal range. Anyway, can't wait to hear this one!

That's definitely not a misdirection. He was very clear that he was approaching Iggy for a parody, and I don't think he would gone into such detail about a timeline just to screw with people. I hope she said yes.
Oh by the way, I've cracked the code.

Re: Album 14 Speculation :3
Does anyone know if Al has to get his lyrics approved with the song publishers? when I've approved parody's the publishers need the new lyrics to agree on the song. It's a bit confusing because Al is sounding like once Iggy says yes he's all set. Perhaps Al already approved the lyrics with the publishers and now just is showing them to Iggy?

Re: Album 14 Speculation :3
Al doesn't technically have to get anything approved. From what I recall, though, Al gives the general idea of the song subject to the original artist as he is asking permission to do the parody. I don't recall that he gets the actual lyrics approved. The Gaga thing was a special circumstance.

Fun fact: if indeed the album does come out in July, it will be the shortest time in between albums in almost 20 years, since Alapalooza and Bad Hair Day.

I just heard the news...
I'm really hoping Iggy did say yes to Al though. The album is so close & I can almost hear it!
