While we're on hiatus, anyone who wants to is welcome to post their thoughts on what the "winners" for each of those four categories should have been.



What to expect for today:
Sometime on Wednesday I will lay out the plan for the rest of the tournament. Remember we will be taking a week off when I am on vacation starting tomorrow. I'll get into more detail about what lies ahead in my next post.

IMO, the list of the finalists is pretty off. SAGG and GJWHL are the only two tracks that deserve to have made it this far.

First of all, I'd like to thank everyone who has participated thus far in the tournament. I have had a great time organizing everything and seeing how it all played out. Some has been pretty accurate, and some has been absolutely incorrect. But I digress. I've really enjoyed running the tournament, and look forward to seeing how Weird Al's Worst plays out next week.

For the next week, I will be vacationing in Washington, DC. My brother goes to college at GWU and I'll be staying with him, visiting other friends and family in the area, and most importantly attending the Inauguration of President Barack H. Obama. When you watch the inauguration next week on TV, think of me standing in that huge crowd!!

I'll be back late Thursday night and within a day or two, we will be back up and running with Weird Al's Worst. The first thing we will have to do is eliminate one of these nine songs from the list, so start thinking about which of our nine finalists is the best, or maybe the least bad...

I have a couple of questions for you guys and was hoping some of you would like to weigh in over the next week if you have a chance. I am not necessarily going to go with the most popular opinion but I do value what you all have to say so I will take your arguments into account when I decide the final rules. Here are the two things I am thinking about:

Once we have eight songs, would you prefer to continue in Tournament format (one song vs another song in quarterworst, semiworst, and final heat), or would you rather eliminate one song from the list at a time until there is one remaining sort of like an aggrandized Survivor poll? I see pros and cons to both options, so please let me know what your take is.

Do you favor the numbered voting system (after x number of votes a song advances), or would you rather do each match-up for 24 hours and the one with the highest number of votes at the end advances?

Regardless of the answer to either of these questions, I foresee Weird Al's Worst taking about a week or so to complete, so timing is not the issue. What's in question is how you'd like to see the finals round play out. Let me know your feedback and I will take it all into account.

Thanks again for everything and stay tuned late next week for a start time. I will try to give a day's notice before we start any voting.

I'd prefer to keep the tournament style going, and think that the 24 hours deal should be in place. (At least in the late part of the round.)

Hmm Im for the survivor thing with 24 hour time limits

Survivor things are great for a single topic, but for something like this, keep the tournament style going.

That way, you're not suddenly changing styles in the middle of it. Because I'm sure that people won't read how the voting takes place and then you end up with something like AWBP not being voted out of it until the last round when it's clearly the worst polka ever.
