We speculated a lot about this before SOL came out, and there wasn't a classic movie song.

It's possible (And Avatar, like it or not, would be the prime candidate), but it's not the safe bet it once seemed.

yeah, if Al didn't think there wer any movies that came out when he was putting together SOL that were worthy of a song parody, I wouldn't count on it...

I just thought the "Feeling Old" hashtag hinted that Al hasn't even heard of her or her songs yet and therefore hasn't even considered her as a possible parody/polka target.
In that CollegeHumor interview posted when the Essentials came out, someone asked him about Lady Gaga and Al said something like "she's someone I'm considering...very liekly candidate...we'll see what happens...can't say for sure right now" so I'd put my money on her over Ke$ha for now.

Also, now that I think of it...Lady Gaga could make for one of the funniest AL-Tv interviews of all time...

Fairly certain he meant he was feeling old because the commenter in question didn't know who Mick Jagger was. In fact, I'll just go ahead and say that's definitely what he meant.
As to your point about Lady Gaga though, what's stopping him from choosing both artists? I'm just thinking that, especially if the album is released in 2010, the polka targets (and to a lesser extent the parody targets) are going to be songs that are popular right now, plus older ones of course. Ke$ha is widely considered the breakout star of 2010 so far, so I feel like she's probably polka-worthy. I'd guess Lady Gaga will at LEAST be featured in the polka, if not chosen for a full parody.

I think that a bunch of national superhits like Boom Boom Pow, Poker Face, Fireflies (would that count?), and even Tik Tok could go into the polka...but not segued right next too each other.

I still think, though, that the title should be Polka Face with maybe another Lady Gaga song in it. If anything, Poker Face does NOT deserve a full-song-polka.
