If he has no album, and tours in support of Internet Leaks or The Essential "Weird Al" Yankovic, what if he called the tour...and this is a good one...The Essential Tour! :whoot: Kind of a play on words. What does anyone else speculate the tour would be called?

I'm not sure. Either way, I'm betting he'll be filling in the gaps of the set list with some more older material (which could help tie-in the "Essentials" album) while he's still working on the rest of the new album.

I am curious to see how he pulls everything off though. I thought he didn't like writing new songs on tour, and that seems like something he'll end up doing this time around. At least as far as parodies go.

I'm sure that Al will still perform the Internet Leaks on tour next year even if there's no new album. All of them except "Ringtone" have simple-enough productions to play live, and if they play Craigslist and CNR back-to-back then Steve can catch up on email.

Plus, in the tradition of playing an overlooked original from the PREVIOUS album ("Night Santa Went Crazy" on Scissors tour, "Horoscope" on Poodle tour, WDTAHTM on Lynwood tour), I predict that on the 2010 tour Al will play "Virus Alert."

It would pretty much have to be Virus Alert...

I agree that "Virus Alert" seems the most likely, but deep down I would love to see (hear) Al attempt to do DDTS live, just for the USA for Africa-ish effect of the audience singing along to the chorus.

I can tell you with 100% certainty he will not be playing at Konocti in Kelseyville, CA. That venue is permanently closing on November 10th.

Wow. I saw Al fall off the stage there in 1997.

Now it's the stage's turn to fall.

There have been many instances where either Al or a band member has said it will likely never happen... it's a logistics issue. It's just one of those songs that doesn't really work live.

Didn't I mention that and predict it a few months ago?
