Hey! New slogan: You can't spell talent without Al. Whaddya think?
If Fuse wants to use Al's picture, that's completely different from one of us using his picture. For one thing, it puts him on TV in a good context. For another, they prob'ly get permission and maybe even pay him for its use.

Very true, since it is a music channel. I know I've seen the pic they used, I just can't place it. Anyway, I thought it was cool, not only that they used that pic, but also how they used it.

Well we couldnt use it becuase it was for profit, I would assume the rules for tv are different. I cant think of the wording, but isn't a celebrity like public domain?

No! Even after they die, their estates can determine how their image is used.

So they would have to ask everytime they used his image? It doesnt seem like they would go through that much trouble. Like when he was the Unabomber on SNL, they had to ask?

The law seems to be evolving. Here's a newspaper article about it.

It's been a while since I've seen that clip, but I don't seem to recall them actually using Al's image. I think the gag was that the Unabomber sketch looked so much like Al that they didn't even need to compare the two, but like I said it's been a while since I last watched that bit.

Ok, then the Craig Kilborn bit about downgrading Al from "weird to slightly unusual"
