Nice few paragraphs about Al in an article from the SLO paper about celebrity interviews.
"As a nerdy kid with good grades, offbeat tastes and an admittedly strange sense of humor, I idolized Weird Al Yankovic."
Why does that sound so familiar to me?

Al says one word to this chick in 1985 and he's a jerk? Pfft.
You'd think that after 22 years or so, she'd be able to make a good start at getting over the disappointment of being turned down for a dance.

Helen, thanks for the link to the SLO article. I enjoyed that. As for the article written by the disgruntled fan...

Don't be silly, she was clearly talking about Weird Al Yankovic|h, not Yankovic.

Sweeeeet!
"White And Nerdy" came in at #5 on iTunes' list of Most Downloaded Videos in 2007, beating out videos by Justin Timberlake, Shakira and Beyonce.
And when you consider that's videos that were downloaded and paid for I think it's very promising for those of us who hope to see more live-action videos from Al in the future (I don't mean off SOL, naturally, but in his future career). Go Al!
i can't believe he was behind solja boy (how do you spell that stupid song's title?)
i hate that song SO MUCH!

indeed.
If you search "weird al" on that site, you also come across one titled "Weird Al Rebuffs His Fans," which rather surprised me because, well, he
doesn't.
The substance of his crime? She bought a stinkin' 8 x 10 glossy at the merch booth and Al wasn't signing things that night.
Instead he tried to just give everyone a handshake,
What planet does she come from where a celebrity offering to shake fans' hands counts as a rebuff? BTW, Al doesn't sell photos at the merch booth any more, does he? This may explain why.
I did like the story of the girl who got to sleep with Al, though.

By her own admission, she was at a club so I would bet she was drunk when she approached Al which is why she got turned down. I'm sure her selective memory has forgotten that she was probably stumbling, slurring her words, and not exactly the perfect dance partner. And even if it did happen exactly like she said, she needs to get over it!

Aww, Helen, that story about Al falling asleep with his head on that gals shoulder was sooo cute!
As for the other one about Al supposedly rebuffing his fans, what's wrong with a handshake, anyway? I'd love to shake Al's hand! I would probably prefer that over an autograph, since you actually get to touch him. Also, she called him a "lower rung on the ladder celebrity". If she has such a low opinion of him, why did she even go to see him? She even slighted him by saying his concert was "full of his hits, if you can call them that."
Quit whining, people!

I'd love to shake Als hand!!!!!!!!!! She just HAD to make a perfectly good thing a complaint!
A lower rung???? oh, yeah, hes only been around (and well known) for... oh, twenty some-odd years!
And yes, I could call Als songs "hits"!!!!!! PUH- leeze!
*mumbles angryly to self*
My very favorite line from that "Dancing" article was "he looked at me like I had cancer" ... Um, cancer isn't contagous, its a mutation in the cells. *rolls her eyes* We already established she was probably drunk, who knows, maybe it wasn't Al at all!!!!!!!

She probably just wanted that autograph so she could brag to her friends that she was actually near someone important. I would take a hand shake from Al, just that fact that he cares enough to give something back to his fans should be enough.
