I agree with Helen. Al isn't a college boy anymore. Humour is not all belly laughs and bodily functions. Sadly a lot of people have difficulty adjusting to that

So far with this album we have had WYL with its cut-price budget humour contrasting with the ludicrous ostentatious and vulgar extravagance of the "scene" the original song comes from

Craigslist, full of people wanting and expecting something for nothing from others

and now Skipper Dan who has had to downsize his dreams & ambitions to get the rent paid

These things ARE funny but not in a head-on escapist way they're clear eyed and keenly observed snapshots of life we all have to experience now and then The humour is in that we recognise that, and appreciate we all face the same kinds of annoyances and irritations

It SHOULD be allowed for a musician to point out that dreams dont always come true, even in Disneyland, but unfortunately a lot of people can only handle the "negative" message if Dan is somehow to blame.. Such is the stranglehold of the rictus grinning media that people actually find it hard to face simple realities anymore

If the songs keep getting better as they're released, I have really high hopes for the remaing two tracks.

I could be wrong, but if it's intended as a specific style parody of anyone, it sounds to me like Fountains of Wayne. Lyrically, it's definitely got that FOW-esque look at a sad sack with failed dreams, centering around the minutia he surrounds himself with.

Certainly not as many jokes as usual - this might in fact be the least "weird" Weird Al song ever. But that's okay. It's so beautifully concocted that if Fountains of Wayne (one of my favorite bands - and, I've heard, one of Al's too) had performed the exact same thing, I'd swear that Schlesinger and Collingwood wrote it themselves.

I find it weird that this is the first Internet Leak I actually LIKE, and yet everyone seems to hate it.

I find it weird that so many people hate it, too. I smurfing love it!

I like it Its happy and bouncy, but the lyrics are a direct contrast.. Typical of Al. To me its like Good Old Days and Melanie much more than its like any other band.

'Good Old Days' is in the style of James Taylor. I should know, I had to listen to him a lot for most of my childhood.

Who hates it, other than the stupid people on MySpace? Haven't seen anyone hating it in this forum nor on my Twitter feed.
