Oh how glorious! From Ice-T's very serious intro -- I think he said Al was a pimp who could flip any genre, who'd been working since before hip hop was born, and that he was the original gangster! -- to the incredible gangsta and Segway choreography, I am completely in love with the performance tonight.
Hells yeah.

Have a mac so I can't watch it. Is it on YouTube yet? I live in Southern Cali so it's not on for another hour or so. It's good to hear though that they got the live performance down better. It's probably a good thing that it is such a gap between the album and the tour. By summer, Al may have that song perfected to the point where he won't even need background vocals. Sweet.
PS: Just curious... Does anyone else think the live show would be funnier if Al was dressed like Chamillionaire instead of a nerd. Don't get me wrong, I think it's funny. But for some reason, I laugh harder anytime Al is dressed like a homie. IE the Eminem parody, Puff Daddy, Nelly, Etc. I don't know, I think it would be funnier if he was dressed like Chamillionaire, anyone else agree?

SPOILER Sethmartin, Al dresses as a gangsta at the beginning of the performance, later he rips the gangsta pants and unzips the W&N hoodie revealing his nerdiness.

I LOVED tonight's performance..... the gangsta VS. the nerds at the end was just precious and I would love if Al started the song in concert just like he did tonight........ Could cause a riot among the female fans, though hehe

That performance was awesome! I *LOVED* the Geeks vs. Gangstas bit at the end. And yeah, I think that WAS Andy Samberg on the Segway holding the Holy Grail.
In case anyone was wondering who the guy was that everybody (including Al) was taking a picture with at the end... That's Noah K, who's been taking a picture of himself with the same expression everyday since January 11, 2000 and made a video of it.

I thought it was a very fun, busy number...seems like night and day when compared to the Leno performance (and that's not a slam on that one, either). It's hard to believe that after two-and-a-half decades this was Al's first big, flashy, tightly choreographed, dancer-filled awards show performance.
Time for a bit of whining: I missed the live drums.
Anyway, I'll chime in and say that Ice-T's intro was quite entertaining as well. Whoever wrote it definitely had a fondness for Al.
Let's hope the guys have a few more choice TV performances before the tour starts.

Am I the only person who wanted to see Al perform Canadian Idiot?
