Thanks, Patti.
That's more of a figurative poem than a literal poem, though ... I mean, I didn't really run into a clerk with a brother Chuck ... it's more about all of the "Chucks" of the world who benefit from Al's music, I guess (kinda like Derek, who I guess was part of the inspiration for it).
Anyway, glad you liked it.

Wow, I'm honored now. But Al's music has really helped
me more because of Laura. She loved Al. Derek does enjoy his music very much. I suppose that's good for him, too.

Well, you AND Laura can certainly be considered "Chucks" as far as my poem goes (as well as myself, for that matter ... and anyone else).
Basically, I guess all I was trying to convey with it was that Al has ways of transcending the acts of a normal comedian, and really has a way of touching people.
(and not in a Michael Jackson kind of way)
(who wrote that??)
Anyway, glad you were honored!

Well, you mentioned Derek, and sorta touched a nerve. A good nerve. Derek is such a testament to strength and going against the rules *at least, the doctor's rules about his life and how long he'd be here* He's dealt with so much, and even though he can't speak, still can convey his feelings by his actions, and the few vocal sounds he
can make. So, yeah, he is sort of a "Chuck". I'll accept me and Laura as "Chucks", too.

I have to agree; were all Chucks in this place
For we all had a time when the smile on our face
Was replaced with a look of grief or pain
Until our wonderful Al put the smile back again
...tryin' to stay on topic!
Praise AL!!

Eat it started it all.
My affection.
My admiration.
How to become famous for being a copycat.
Even worse, I still drooled.
Alapalooza, genius.
Dare to be stupid, priceless.
The best moment being my daughter dancing to my favorite song.
The seed planted.
Soon, she becomes as I.
Looking forward to our next fix.
Like a junkie looking for his high.
I endeavor til the next album hits the shelves.
For I need my fix.
Ok. not one of my best, but it'll do.
