The Eminem "interview" was priceless. I laughed so hard I was crying.

I just watched it on tape. I spent the entire Eminem interview either laughing my head off or with my mouth wide open in total shock thinking, "Eminem is going to sue Al, isn't he?!?"

I was hoping Al would make some reference to it, but having the entire interview dedicated entirely to humiliating Eminem, with Al making fun of his English, his music...I could NOT believe it when after Eminem said the music was too repetitive, Al said "I could only change the words; I couldn't change the music, too." Hilarious!! And making it seem like Eminem is gay is something I'm sure he will not appreciate.

I'm speechless...I'm going to watch it again!

About Al becoming more "adult"...I definitely think he has. That made this Al-TV a little less funny in my opinion. There was a little of that last time, but noticeably more this time around.

I realize that he's 43 and married now, that he's not a writer of children's songs, and that the entire culture is becoming more like that (as b-whales said, even Nickelodeon can be pretty bad at times); but I think it's still a little bit of a shame.

Speaking of his being married: I noticed Al didn't mention the fact that he's married and has a baby now. (He mentioned that Brad Pitt was married during the Slim Shady interview, but didn't mention he was himself.) Any thoughts on why? Maybe he doesn't feel it fits with his traditional image. Or maybe he wants to keep them out of the spotlight, especially Nina I would assume.

Anyway, I really enjoyed AL-TV overall. Thank you Weird Al!!! Really good interviews--Celine Dion was a surprise! It is too bad he didn't do Al-TV news or other segments, but I'm definitely happy and think it will do a good job of promoting...uh...what's the name of his album again? I think he forgot to mention it!!

I'll disagree. I thought the only thing more adult than the last Al TV was Eminem saying the "B" word. Compared to some of his previous specials, this was no more adult than Al asking Paula Abdul if he could lick her arm. But that's just my opinion.

Yes, this is definatly a more "adult" side of Al than I've seen before (I didn't see any of the previous Al-TVs) but compared to the artists he is parodying, especially Eminem, what Al says is nothing. Who would you rather have your kids listen to, Eminem or Al?

And man, Al really ripped on Eminem. I am sure that Eminem is going to be furious about this, and will probably diss Al in one of his future songs - I look forward to it! let the rap war begin - just as long as it's not as lame as Coolio saying he is doing drop kicks with Weird Al Yankovich ( off of Throwdown 2000, a song off his lame selling follow up to Gangsta's paradise, "my soul". I think Al drop kicked him all the way to Fear Factor and M.C. Hammerville!

The whole show was pretty hilarious. I wish Al would have at least done the thing where he plays the original artists video with his lyrics for Eminem, but the thing where they were just sitting there listening to it was still funny. I was hoping that halfway through them sitting there that all of a sudden the video for couch potato would come on after all, but oh well.

And by the way- post number 100!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sarley, it was only an hour show. Take out the commercial time, we got probably 27 minutes of Al goodness... I wish it would be more, but what are you gonna do about it?

In a battle of wits, my money's on The Great Weird One. Em probably won't be mad until someone explains it to him.

And the part where they are just sitting there listening... so funny. I think Al made his point.

And he managed to get in a good dig on Prince.

The interview with Celine Dion was funny. But it goes to further emphasize the doldrums that have hit the music scene. Al had to resort to Celine Dion for funny material. It's possible that Al didn't think there was enough stuff out there to rip on to sustain a show longer than an hour.

Basically, yeah. No news, odd contest, educational videos and such.

I can't wait to watch it again without interruptions. While I was recording, my dad was still asleep, and my mom and sister came home during the last half, so various noises above Al.

I think maybe Eminem will probably give some diss to Al in a future song at some point. Al would just laugh, smile, and go, "Hey, I got a reference in someone else's song!"

I remember watching ALTV in its original goodness many many moons ago and, in fact, have some of it on some old tapes. It was three hours long and never got boring. I'm hoping that VH1 will let him do it again in the future, seeing as this is only a one hour program. I miss the many stunts he used to do such as Fan Mail (where there would be three letters rolling around in a huge bin and it was always from a Harold Weinstein or something), Harvy the Wonder Hamster tricks, the ALTV awards, ALTV News, the Sky High series of commercials, the voice-over videos, and... of course, the AL videos.

I could only hope that this ALTV lives up to its predecessor.

I just received VHS copies of the first two Al-TVs EVER (thanks Elvis!)

and they are both FOUR hours long! Personally, I think it's cool watching all those bizarre, rarely-played videos that "Al wants to watch" interspersed with Al and his shenanigans. Too bad the VH-1 special is missing that.

I haven't yet seen the special, and now that I read the posts in this thread I'm worried. Was there an 11 AM showing? I sure hope so, because since I don't have cable I set a friend's VCR to record the show this morning! Please tell me I didn't end up recording "VH-1's Behind the

Music with Don Henley"!!!

As far as Al's material getting more salty with age, the last AL-TV for RWS was pretty "adult". Someone already mentioned the Cher interview, I think. But I dunno...going back to AL-TV #1 (from 1984), there was a joke in there that I don't think he would have gotten away with today! Something about a "One Night Stand with Al" Contest, where the winner gets to pretty "much have their way" with Al. This in and of itself isn't so bad, but when he started running down the contest rules he began: "remember, you have to be 14 or over..." Yikes!

The same episode had him announcing that the deadline for the "Send Al a Picture of Your Breasts" Contest had already passed, but that he was still accepting entries anyway.

So I guess the point is, Al's target audience was never the Romper Room crowd.

Hmm, reading some of the comments, some of you need to relax and just have fun. It's Al, for cryin' out loud! So what if he made a butt-crack joke? Avril started it by saying "butt-crack" first! Gee! And as far as Al doing a Celine Dion interview, she's still very much in the public eye, so why not? I thought all the interviews were great, but the Eminem one was a stand-out. I don't really think Em will try to sue Al. Anyway, I loved Al-TV, even though it was WAY shorter than the Al-TV's of old. And as far as whether or not he mentions he's married, you can see that ring flash quite often during the show. That's enough of a statement to me.
