Sounds like Al's trying to pick up the pace again, which is AWESOME.
Hopefully we'll be seeing more of this in the near future! Perhaps shortly after the 2012 tour Al will show us a glimpse of the new album.

Good to hear he's already at work on the next album. Hopefully we'll have a shorter wait this time around.

Yeah remember when we got our first song 2 years after SOL was released and got excited for a quick album? I'm calling 2015 at least

Yeah, Al always is working on the originals straight after touring the previous album. Like he said, the parodies are likely ones that haven't even been written yet.
Exciting, nonetheless.

Great news regarding album 14. He did mention in almost all of his Grammy weekend video interviews he just started to work on the originals. I would love for Al to pick up the pace too.

But remember, the originals are the easy part of the album. The parodies are what takes time

Hopefully when he gets to the parody phase, he'll wait for the "next big thing" to come to him and not the other way around this time.

Well, Al is already picking up the pace with this one. Alpocalypse was released about 8 months ago, and Straight Outta Lynwood was out for 2 years before Al started working on Alpocalypse.
I'd say we're definitely not in for a 4/5-year wait this time around. 3 years tops.

Haven't seen this elsewhere, so here you go: Al was on Marc Maron's WTF podcast. Covers a lot of the usual ground, but it's a long interview and pretty good.

Actual interview starting at 13:50.
