Did he actually wear parachute pants a lot or is that some MC hammer joke?

I thought he was referring to those multi-colored pants he wore on the back cover of the debut album, the first ever TV performance where he did "Another One Rides The Bus," and the first couple of tours.

They werent parachute pants, they were just ugly. I know for a while the black pants he wore on stage were slightly baggy, I could see him referring to them. Or he is just making a joke

I don't really see how it would be ironic, considering we'd expect a comedian, especially one with the name "Weird Al", to wear silly clothes like that.

But maybe that's just me.
