I didn't realize it was the same manager Nelly had when Al did the Hot in Herre parody... interesting! I think it sounds fishy too.

I'm sorry to say, it sounds fishy to me too. And even more so when you consider the way that Lady Gaga shut down Lady Goo Goo. I really think it was the groundswell of support for Al that did the trick. It's one thing to turn down somebody who wants to make fun of you, even in the good-spirited way that Al generally does, but it's a whole other thing to turn down that person and realize that your decision is turning you into a humorless Bad Sport in the eyes of more people than you ever imagined. I think she changed her mind because she realized that her image-protection strategy had backfired.
This. I was a little surprised to hear about the Lady Goo Goo thing in light of what supposedly happened with Al. It made me think Helen's guessing above is more on the mark. However, the end result is fine. Al got the permission.

He was actually the label's A & R guy (Artists & Repertoire), that's the way it works. Or did work, when Al was starting out. I was referring to Tad Dowd, who was mentioned by Dr Demento in the Permanent Record booklet. By one of those weird coincidences that does sometimes happen, Mr. Dowd is a long-time family friend of one of our fellow fans, who had no idea what he used to do for a living and no idea of his Weird Al connection and was very surprised to see him at a concert. And that's how I happened to meet him.

Ohh, ok. Thanks for explaining about A & R. I'm such a noob. I remember seeing Tad Dowd on "Driven". (I think it was that show) Pretty cool that you met him.

It's undeniable that "So where's your penis?" is not one of the standard boilerplate questions Al's always answering.

The appearance on World News Now tonight was really cool. Al did a version of their World News Now Polka and also did a interview from on-stage at the Paramount Theater in Huntington, NY. Showed a scene from the bus pulling away after the show, and man did many people stay around. That looked awesome on TV!
