Originally the Simpson's staff had written an episode where Leon Kompowski (The guy that thought he was Micheal Jackson) came back and thought he was Prince. Prince hated the script, so he had another one made by his chauffeur or something. It's on the Stark Raving Dad commentary in the season 3 boxset.
So, how 'bout that Darryl Hall? Kinda a jerk, eh?
I didn't know that. I should've listened to the commentary.
Yeah, that Darryl Hall.

Gee Darryl, what did Al do, run over your dog or something?

Obviously, the guy doesn't know the Al we know. He would only have to listen to Al and TBITB for a few minutes in order to realize they are extremely funny and talented musicians, and what they do is most definitely music.

I'd say most people here would agree with you.
"Dare To Be Stupid" and "Dog Eat Dog' are two fine examples of intelligent, funny works. In my mind, at least. There's others, obviously, but I like them.

Darryl was probably paid $9700 by some movie company to say that in the interview.

Uh, why? I can't think of any reason why a movie studio would want Daryl Hall to insult Weird Al; it's not like they're getting anything out of the situation.

Well I suppose if the movie studio was called "What he does is bull****. What they do is music Studios", it fits in context

I forgot about them. I really loved their production of Pretentious Washed-up Gits: Rantfest 2008
