That's what I was thinking. I personally, and not to be a downer or anything, don't think there will be a second leg. I would personally love one, but since he has to put an album out every three years, he won't have enough time to record the originals and parodies in that time. For the rest of the tours, they started the year the album came out, due to YP, the tour was set back a year. I just don't think Al will be able to tour for a second leg.

Sure he will. If he goes off tour tomorrow, vacations until February, tours another 5 months, then he'll be off all of August and can start recording in September. That would give him almost 4 months to record, assuming he wants to release the next album on Jan 1 2009, which I doubt.

Well, I think one thing we may be forgetting is the writing process. I'm sure Al writes some when on tour, but its a bit early to be thinking of a lead single parody or anything. Usually Al has plenty of time off to relax and write instead of it being rushed and not his best work.

He generally doesnt write while on the road, he likes to concentrate on the tour. Although he could write originals while on vacation this winter, that is if he isnt too busy making a tv show.

If he is going to tour again, he should do so with a new single, Canadian Idiot, under his belt.

Or he can release a new song that he got permission for (after the YP debacle), but didn't record.

Al said in an interview during the PH tour that he had a few originals already written for the new album (Straight Outta Lynwood). So he has wrote some songs while on the road but certainly not an parodies.

Good point, Driew. He can write original songs anytime and probably is constantly thinking about them, but the parodies require that he have access to a TV or radio and time to listen for hot new hits (and trust me, once a person has kids, they no longer have time to themselves when they're home; he might find being on the road more conducive to writing now that home time is family time.)

But hey, I'd be fine with an all-originals CD! (OK, Zomba might not be...)

To steer back somewhere close to the topic, MySpacers sure started wishing Al a happy birthday early this year! The big day's not 'til this Tuesday, folks!
