I think Al has had enough publicity over this song! Unless they did actually censor it and now Al is bullying them into uncensoring it. Bullying works very well for him

MTV has always been overly-excessive with their censorship.

Here is a brief online interview from the New York Post. I'll have to give credit to the interviewer for the original question at the end.

Some stupid guy from MTV who basically says he is embarrased to be seen listening to Weird Al but knows he is still here and is why he likes what he calls real music

In fairness, I can relate to a lot of what this guy says about how he discovered Al at a young age and was essentially introduced to the world of "other" music via his songs. It took awhile for me to realize which songs were parodies vs. originals, too (this was of course, prior to the thing called the Internet), and I also heard a lot of those Rolling Stones songs for the first time via "Hot Rocks Polka". The only difference is, I didn't grow out of it. It wasn't a "phase" for me, but rather a genesis.
What I don't understand is why this guy seems to think that he can't enjoy both "real" music AND Al's music. I mean, he won't even
listen to the new album?? Not even out of curiosity, or sense of nostalgia? Okay, you're right crazygurl. . .he
is stupid.
