My guess - Al has the idea for another parody, has reached out to the artist, and is now writing full lyrics.anthontherun wrote:Now it's time for us to read as much as we can into the word "progress"...

Re: Album 14 Speculation :3
I made that post because I thought Al had finished recording eleven songs, not nine. I thought the lead single would naturally be the last song he had to finish right now before the album's release so this would be the time when he is looking for one. After bermuda's post, it looks like it's going to be a little while.TMBJon wrote:This still seems presumptuous. Just because he did something three years ago today doesn't mean he is doing it now. I think he recorded the lead single for Alpocalypse when he did because he had the approved idea for Perform This Way at that time. Al is probably waiting for the right target to come up and will record the parody after that. I highly doubt he is thinking "Oh no, it's March. I guess I have to work with whatever is out now..." That's not the way Al has done things in the past, and since this is his last album I see no reason why he would start now.
Anyway, Al's latest post on Instagram made me think about the possibility of Al parodying Beyonce on this album. After all, she's an artist he hasn't tackled yet and now would be the perfect time (especially since she seems to be crafting an image and we know Al sometimes likes to play off an artists' image/cult of personality for a lead single).
I wasn't sure he'd do anything from her newest album, but now I think it's a stronger possibility. Since she released it as a total surprise and all, it might not have been too easy to figure out which songs had the most potential but "Drunk In Love" and "Partition" seem to be gaining viral popularity lately (and by the way, who the frgi names a song "Partition"?)
Then again, her new release may have come out too soon for Al to be considering it at the moment. The way his album production cycle seems to go there's still a possibility he could parody something from Bey's previous album like "Run The World (Girls)".

Re: Album 14 Speculation :3
Every time Al posts something on Twitter or Instagram you rush to say it is because of the new album. Do you think that is the only thing on Als mind at all times? He's a comedian, he makes jokes. Patton Oswalt posted something on twitter, does that mean it ended up in his act? Probably not

Really? I took it to mean maybe he's finally going to get around to parodying The Bangles.Killingsworth wrote: Anyway, Al's latest post on Instagram made me think about the possibility of Al parodying Beyonce on this album.

Well, I think it's pretty safe to say that there is at least one parody that Al hasn't written yet, so I don't see how his album production cycle would prevent him from parodying a Beyonce song from her most recent album if that's what he wanted to do.Killingsworth wrote:TMBJon wrote:

That Patton Oswalt tweet? Al favorited it. I think we may be able to safely say Patton is in an Al video. Can't wait!

I wonder if he'll be reprising his role as "Dr. Demento"...Wizzerkat wrote:That Patton Oswalt tweet? Al favorited it. I think we may be able to safely say Patton is in an Al video. Can't wait!

Tim Thompson just tweeted this: https://twitter.com/moviestim/status/446303355455811586" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
"Coming soon"? Think we might get an early, pre-album release, a'la Internet Leaks?

Re: Album 14 Speculation :3
I doubt there would be an official release like Internet Leaks, mostly because Al commented that people were pretty bummed by the time Alpocalypse came out since half of the album was no longer "new". But I also can't imagine that Tim Thompson would release a video without Al's consent either -- although this is entirely speculative. Perhaps there's going to be a video without a full-fledged single? Or maybe there's a little bit of a mix-up in regards to what the word "soon" means.

Re: Album 14 Speculation :3
Yeah, I tweeted Thompson back and asked him to "define 'soon' " (no response, of course), but it could easily just mean "in the future...sometime. Eventually."
But I hold out hope for an early release to whet our appetites. I don't think he would do a full-fledged IL "slow-drip" release again, and frankly I don't want him to because I was one of those fans who thought the excitement of Alpocalypse's release was lessened since we already owned half of it.
That said, I wouldn't mind ONE song to tide us over while Al searches for his lead.
