Fingertips is probably my most loathed tmbg song. Not that Ive always hated it, but having this song single handedly ruin both the excitement of more than a dozen tmbg encore's, as well as my last.fm profile, I've gotten to the point that a snippet of fingertips coming up on my shuffle only serves to elicit pure rage.

Again, my biggest issue with al doing a style parody in the form of fingertips is that he will then turn around to his adoring public and say, "hey, check this out! Its, uh...well...Iunno. It like a bunch of songs, but its really just one song. And, well...BUY IT!"

More importantly, wasnt there ringtone speculation in other threads discussing the other original songs?

Yeah I think the Internet Leaks Speculation would be fair game for Bermuda to have looked through and say that someone had "guessed it."

I don't want to harp on this idea for so long, but the difference if Al did do it like Fingertips is that with his version, each snippet would be similar in content, and would therefore cow better as a piece, even though the music would be different. And also, musically, each snippet wouldn't even need to sound at all like TMBG or any part of Fingertips, because it woud be the structue that he is parodying.

Anyway, in case my suggestion is wrong, does anyone care to scan the speculation topic and assemble a list of artists mentioned prior to Bermuda saying it had been guessed? From that list, assuming it's not Fingertips, we should be able to identify which artist sounds most like that clip.

I know there was Beatles speculation. That certainly could also pan out as being a "medley" song.

I think in that case, then that leads more to the possibility of it being the long song. (The Abbey Ringtone Medley  )
You have quickly thought up such matchless phrase?

I really hope that this will be the "long song" of the album, and with the subject being Ringtone, I think the only way it could be long would be if it is a medley of sorts.

Wouldn't it be awesome if Al did a medley of Beatles sound-a-likes much like Allan Sherman's "schtick" medleys!?

But that clip doesn't sound much like the Beatles to my ears.

It definitely sounds like The Beatles. I'm just throwing this out there, but we thought Skipper Dan might be a Jimmy Buffett style parody before we actually heard the song. Listening to this clip again, I can hear some hints of Jimmy Buffett songs, such as "Fins." Could this be the Jimmy Buffett style parody?
Oh by the way, I've cracked the code.

I think it sounds like the Monkees as stated earlier.

See, to me it sounds too modern to be any of those. When Al does an older artist, he tends to be very consistent with their sound, such as with Dylan, Zappa, and Doors. I think it sounds a lot more like BNL than any of those.

I hope this isn't the long song, and that Al saves it for the album.
