I can't listen to that song (C@GZ) because the first time I heard it was during the 911 stuff, and it was just really depressing to listen to at that time...and the "Ground Zero" part just made it hard..which is pretty horrible because I know it is a very funny song..bad timing I guess... :sleepy: ...but I was watching "The Videos" yesterday and noticed, in disgust, the condom incident pointed out on WOWAY and it made me so mad...that is my favorite Al love ballad...the vocals and instrumentals are simply gorgeous and it really upsets me to know people could do that to Al... :dontgetit: ...guess I'm crazy after all, but I don't get it...btw, thanks for the word of today:festooned! ;)

Just because they happened to use the phrase Ground Zero during 9/11? Other than that there's really no similarity between the song and the events.

"Ground Zero" existed as a phrase long before 9/11. Accordion to dictionary.com:

QUOTE   1. The target of a projectile, such as a missile or bomb.

  2. The site directly below, directly above, or at the point of detonation of a nuclear weapon.

Al used the term correctly. What other phrase was he supposed to use? Ground Zero is a bad place to be.

I understand Jon about the song I have read the lyrics but the phrase Ground Zero was beat to death on the news, especially at my house, and I can't hear it without thinking of 911...it's no dis to Al...:-( but I wish all this hadn't happened in the first place...

~*Cat*~ : :choon:  <if only I had heard Al's song first....>

I'm not *that* stupid I know Ground Zero was used before 9-11, but I hadn't heard the phrase used until that time, so that's what I associate it with...unfortunatly enough....<cowers as forum members threaten to beat her up>
