Woah! This is a PETA site? I didn't even notice their logo at the bottom at first.Prosthetic_Lips @ May 3 2006, 10:08 PM wrote: And as a non-PETA supporter (it really stands for People Eating Tasty Animals, but I digress), I wasn't sure if I should even validate their poll by voting in it.
Now, I'm really questioning whether this link should even be on this site. Do we really need to have a link to a terrorist organization on this forum? That's kind of bothersome.
And, yes, now I know I certainly will not vote in that poll.

How do you know they're terrorists? I may not agree with everything PETA does, but that doesn't make them terrorists.Bruce the Duck @ May 4 2006, 06:40 PM wrote: Woah! This is a PETA site? I didn't even notice their logo at the bottom at first.

I'm still voting for Al.
4 words that Al said to me that blew me away:
"How's Problem Child doing?" - 7/12/11
So awesome!

Um, I agree, I hate PeTA. But I think it would annoy them if he won. I did a fan art here on the subject, "Al has been delighting audiences with his creative song parodies since his very first hit, My Bologna. He encourages everyone to commemorate his victory by eating a Twinkie Wiener Sandwich for him. And Bruce has become duck pate". Something like that.
The link to it is here:
My Fan Art on PeTA
So actually, I don't think it's supporting PeTA to vote for him. I think it would irritate them more than anything else. Come on people, ducks are our FRIENDS...but I think I have to agree with the wolf in that they make better comestibles, properly carved and cooked anyway.
Being female and from Chicago, I voted early, voted often
. I doubt he'll win, there are probably too many female vegetarians, voting for Tobey "I'll be Spiderman forever" MacGuire (that is how you spell his name?) or G. Gordon Liddy or Don Imus
.
What would be supporting PeTA would be signing up for any of their newsletters, giving a donation, etc.
As little as I care if Al wins or not (does it make him a better musician if he wins? Will we like him any less if he loses? Will his career fall to pieces if he loses?), I still think it would be a good way to get back at PeTA to vote for him, since with My Bologna and all that he is somewhat unfit for the job. Oh, except for the little fact that he's incredibly sexy and good looking.

Well, Al is a vegetarian, so he is qualified. I don't think he's a PeTA member, though. I'm still voting for him, and often! I also agree that voting for him doesn't mean I support PeTA. It would be cool if he did win, but I wouldn't be upset if he didn't. We gals already know he's the sexiest vegetarian.
Btw, as Al always says, his songs are not autobiographical! So My Bologna doesn't necessarily disqualify him. Besides, he wasn't a vegetarian when he wrote it, anyway.

I knew that, but what I am saying here is the fact that PeTA makes everyone who wins look like a meat-hating omnivore-hating "ANNOYING VEGETARIAN". Anyone who wrote "My Bologna" is none of those.
So, it would be very painful for them to acknowledge the bit about both that song and the Twinkie Wiener Sandwich. I just think it would annoy them, that's all. They want people who did not become vegetarians for their own health, but "for the animals" and admittedly so. I doubt Al would come on and say something about how cows are wonderful and intelligent creatures, that don't deserve to be killed, boo-hoo-hoo, I hate everyone who eats meat, they're another Hannibal Lecter....

Yeah, Al became a vegetarian for his own health, as far as I know. Not to save animals. I will keep voting for him, because he is the sexiest vegetarian, and because he doesn't fit the PeTA standard. Btw, what makes you think only female vegetarians are voting for anyone, especially Tobey McGuire? I'm a meat eater, and proud of it, and I'm voting for Al, whether PeTA likes it or not.
