This is just odd. I've never heard of Al selling meet & greet passes before, except for charity auctions. And if such a thing were for sale, how come this entire forum of assiduous Googlers never came across any mention of them?Kayy911 wrote:In regards to the the inside meet & greet, my understanding, from what security told me, is that they had paid for passes, I believe the VIP ones. The center itself does not give passes, and local radio stations had few regular tickets, certainly not 40 meet & greet passes.

Yeah, something doesn't sound right, either I misheard it, or the security was misinformed.Orthography Enthusiast wrote:This is just odd. I know there were in fact people getting stuff signed inside, we saw them come out in what looked to be (and we were told) 2 groups of 20, but the circumstances surrounding how they got in for the meet and greet/signing is beyond me other than what I was told.Wizzerkat wrote:I assume security was misinformed. Great show. Al played Frank's 2000" TV. Bermuda said Al said frozen apples and not frozen waffles during CNR, but I didn't catch that. Al did go into the audience briefly during another song -- not WBUL -- but I can't remember which song.
There were 2 kinds of backstage passes. I had never seen this before. I had what I would consider the "normal" kind and then there were others who had a pass which looked completely different. I am not sure how the people got the other kind of backstage pass. We were separated into groups by what kind of backstage pass we had. The people with the other kind of backstage pass went in to see Al first.

Could it have been a theatre pass? Not that I've seen many given out, and I don't know why they'd be given priority

The only other thing I can guess is that maybe the venue did give out passes for their high donors, it is a non-profit venue and if you give X amount of money you become a certain level donor, like benefactor, contributor, etc. But I didn't think there would be that many high donors at the Weird Al show and even for the high donors, they don't just give out passes willy nilly.
