I agree that it was a good experiment, but I would prefer to be surprised with the full album in the future.

And that's probably the answer. Personally, as much as I would love to hear each new song as soon as possible, I think I'd prefer getting 12 new songs all at once. On the other hand, if he DID do another IL for ALbum 14, I would still do exactly what Seth says and essentially end up double-dipping. Which, let's face it, benefits Al. This is all a business, after all.

But yeah, ALpocalypse seemed like less of an event than his last releases because we already had half the album.

Granted, like the majority here, the Internet Leaks was a pretty good idea, but in all honesty, the EP was released, far too early in my opinion. Granted, it's new material to bridge the gap between album releases, but if the intent was to promote the thirteenth album, then it would have been a treat to release the EP about a month or so prior to the album's release, despite when the songs were originally recorded.

This is not only common practice, but the tracks released on the EP would still be fresh enough for the album's initial release. Anyhow, that is my take on it.

Yeah...I agree there was just too much time between the EP and the full album. I'd grown somewhat tired of the IL material by the time the album got released. Although Al doesn't always know when he can release the new album (while he's waiting for the "next big thing" to be his lead parody), I think releasing songs just a few months ahead of the album AND fewer songs than last time around would be the best way to go about it.

This is an experiment that should absolutely never happen again.

Well, if Al were to do four parodies and one original (opposite of "Internet Leaks" I guess) and release them online, that would indicate that the album would be coming out soon, which would definitely help increase hype.

Seems like parodies would be the best songs to release "on the fly", to avoid the targets becoming stale. But then I guess those are also the main selling points for the albums.

I guess I just do not see it as a bad thing to have the songs' releases spread out over time rather than all at once in a single album. We're still getting 50% new material on June 21st.
