Didn't the producers of Titanic decline Al for "Free Delivery"?

I really don't understand why Al would have to "get permission" from the producers of Titanic or Home Improvement to do those parodies.

Home Improvement was wicked! Watched it on youtube last week, figured it would be the Home Improvement theme song, so awesome, what a funny parody, they probably hardly even like the show, it was lame!
What a racket they're makin', Jack, they keep me up at night playin' their electric guitars!!

Do we know if he tried to get permission from the producers of Home Improvement? After all, the problem with that one was with the producers of "Friends", not "Home Improvement".TMBJon wrote:I really don't understand why Al would have to "get permission" from the producers of Titanic or Home Improvement to do those parodies.
Though on a related topic, didn't Jerry Springer say no to Al making a video for "Jerry Springer"?
Also, regardless of what Wikipedia says, was Al actually declined permission to record "Fast Food" or was it just an idea that he decided not to go with?

Sorry yeah that's what I meant.Marko_The_Odd wrote:TMBJon wrote:After all, the problem with that one was with the producers of "Friends", not "Home Improvement".
As far as Jerry Springer, I thought the issue was just that Jerry himself wouldn't be in the video, and without him what's the point?

Well in the case of "I'll be There For You", it was actually co-written by the producers of Friends, so that's probably why Al had to get permission from them.
Also, I could be wrong on this, but if a song is written particularly for a television show/ movie, isn't there a good chance that the rights to it belong in some way to the producers or studio of that show/movie?

Well Al has use look alikes in videos before, so that's no problem. I think it was Jerry got cold feet when he realized it was making fun of his guests (aka spot on)

Did Billy Joel ever actually say "no" to It's Still Billy Joel To Me? I'm not sure if Al ever asked.

Re: People who've said "no" to Al
IIRC, Al decided not to ask because A. he thought the song was a little mean spirited, and B. because It's Still Rock And Roll To Me felt too dated by the time he was getting ready to release his first album.
