Well, considering the movie was released eight months before the song was recorded.....

Speaking of a long overdue boxset...when the heck will someone wise up and do "The Mel Brooks Soundtracks?" C'mon, Rhino??

An in-depth search by me for a connection between Al and Spaceballs turned up empty, OE. I did find some interesting links along the way, though.

But first, a quick side note: A place called Fast-Rewind.com has summaries of lots of '80's movies, and it has a really nice one for our beloved "UHF" [complete with full credits, trivia, etc.!] -- http://www.fast-rewind.com/uhf.htm

Okay, back to the results:

Here's the site Scotti found that lists the tracks on the official "Spaceballs" Soundtrack album ... but alas, no Al there. http://www.geocities.com/yank2010/soundtrack.htm It suggested looking for the album on eBay.

I also did find the soundtrack album for "Spaceballs" on eBay, as did Scotti, but on this album, again there's no Al. It's eBay Item # 2522283306 [http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... egory=1058]

And yet, the Mutant Reviewers from Hell, in their review of "Spaceballs", mentioned that the soundtrack was an "Interesting compilation, including the "Spaceballs" song, a Weird Al song, and some stuff by Bon Jovi, Van Halen, and Queen". Here's the link: http://www.mutantreviewers.com/rspaceballs.html

And the IMDb has "Six Words Long" included on the soundtrack listing for "Spaceballs" too!!

http://us.imdb.com/Soundtracks?0094012

But CD is right! "Spaceballs" was released in the US on June 24, 1987, as per IMDb [ http://us.imdb.com/ReleaseDates?0094012 ]. And per wa.com, "Six Words Long" was recorded on February 18, 1988~!~! [ http://www.weirdal.com/rcdgdate.htm ].

So, the "simple" answer to your Q, OE, is -- no, "Spaceballs" does NOT have "Six Words Long" on its soundtrack. The REAL question is -- WHERE is this repeated reference to "Six Words Long" in relation to "Spaceballs" coming from originally??!?

Bermuda, if you're not TOOOO terribly busy with the upcoming album and all :satisfied: , could you shed some light on this quandary?

Thanks for the exhaustive research, Dr. Dad!

Maybe there's a much-copied homemade compilation tape that made the rounds with somebody's favorite songs-- the Spaceballs soundtrack and ...Six Words Long.

But doesn't Weird Al and Mel Brooks seem like a natural pairing?

If it really is John Candy, why does it look like Alfred Hitchcock? Oh wait... scrolling down, I see that they have him too...

Spaceball surfing over at EBAY... it seems the French version is titled "Insane History of Space." I wonder how Mel felt about that?

And they have Spaceballs - The Lighter. Reminds me of the merchandising gag in the movie. Mel Brooks is a comedy genius...

Ohhhhhhh, YYYEEAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!! :onfire:

and he certainly has much in common with Weird Al

I've watched "Spaceballs" a lot, but I've never heard this Al song there. Do you know why? Because I wasn't Weird Al fan then. (was I? :bigups: )

But I have a similar question. Was there "Polkamon" on "Pokemon 2000" soundtrack?!?! I saw this OST in stores but there is no Polkamon in it at all!!! What gives?

"Polkamon" is track number 10 on "Pokemon 2000: The Power Of One".

It's funny because that had just come out (the movie) when I really got into Al(and out of Pokemon!) So my sister was watching the movie and during the credits here comes Weird Al!

It's a good song, wiosh I could get it on something else other than that soundtrack -_-
