JB: I've seen some fantastic parodies of the song along the way. I think, actually, Weird Al's is my least favorite because it's not the funniest one. One of my favorites is "My Cubicle" from the office worker, "It's Bloody Cold" is another one. There are some very special parodies out there.

Re: James Blunt speaks out on "You're Pitiful"
"It's Bloody Cold" is more of a spoof of the video, which is funny at first but kind of goes on too long after we've gotten the joke already. The song itself is off-key, too--surely for legal reasons--so it doesn't quite work for me as a parody that I would enjoy outside of the video.
"My Cubicle", on the other hand, works pretty well. I'd go so far as to say it actually is a funnier concept than "You're Pitiful", which one has to admit isn't Al at his most clever. Not to say I don't like Al's version, but "My Cubicle" might beat it out if I had to choose the better parody of the two. (Blasphemy!)

So we'll be changing the Trashcan to "James Blunt's Career", I assume?

At least that would make sense. James Blunt's career is closer to being "in the trash" than Daryll Hall's ever was.

How is Tom Gleeson's a parody?! He's just making comments about the song...weird. While funny, its not a parody so Blunt's comments don't make sense.

Whoa, Whoa, Whoa, Guys!
I know that James Blunt doesn't really like Al's that much, but you have to give him credit that he was fine with the parody. To be honest, "You're Pitiful" isn't that great, it's just kinda funny, so I think the James Blunt bashing is a little silly. It's not like "Your'e Pitiful" was the next "Amish Paradise" and Blunt was the new Coolio, calling Al out for destroying his street cred.
And the bashing of Tom Gleeson is a little extreme too:
"A parody (pronounced /ˈpærədi/), in contemporary usage, is a work created to mock, comment on, or make fun at an original work, its subject, author, style, or some other target, by means of humorous, satiric or ironic imitation."
What Gleeson is doing, believe it or not, is a parody, and actually is more closer to the definition than anything Al's done.
I hate to see anger.
I'll get off my soap box.

Alright fine it was a "parody" but not something you could actually put on an album.
