Also I heard that he wrote it when he was 16.

I'd love to hear the version he did live on KMET one day. I think the show that has it is for sale on Dr D's site. I'll have to check it out.

I've heard the home demo of Nobody Here, But Us Frogs, but never the KMET performance, so I am also curious as to how that'd sound.

Do you guys agree or disagree with my analysis of the lyrics?

I think the dystopia is all between "Al's" ears, although I'm inclined to give serious consideration to Wilshire Boulevard as a commie plot.

Please elaborate.

Well, OBVIOUSLY if you're going to have a secret plot, you want it to be a secret. And what better way to hide a bunch of commies than under a shining veneer of capitalist exuberance? Duh!

Setting aside for a moment the fact that the lyrics are obviously nonsensical and instead focusing only on your explanation here, of all areas in Los Angeles why Wilshire Boulevard as the example of "capitalist exuberance"? Was that where capitalism was focused back in the 70s when this song was written? I could think of lots of areas that might fit better with this explanation, but I've only known this city for the last six years.
Going back to the actual context of the song, ever since I moved to LA I've wondered why Al chose Wilshire Blvd as the street that was a commie plot. I always assumed it was only because it's the biggest thoroughfare in the city.

Personally I think it's because Wilshire Blvd. was the first street in Los Angeles to have dedicated left-turn lanes.

Also Wilshire Blvd. is notorious for its giant potholes.
