The discussion of the accordion parts has inspired me to go back an listen to the music with new ears :lookround:

On "Taco Grande" do I hear Stephen Jay playing ethnic percussion? Or is Bermuda playing both kinds of drums? The magic of technology would allow him to play both at the same time. Someone has to be playing more than one instrument, because I also hear a bass guitar. Or does Jim play that too?

I'll have to agree that Frank's 2000" TV has excellent instruments and harmony, one of my absolute favorites is "She Never Told Me She Was a Mime" on both insturments and harmony. Sure the harmony isn't all that complex, but it sounds aweseome!

I just love Al's voice and the harmonies on Ebay. Especially the "I'm highest bidder now, hey hey."

And the harmonies in Hardware Store. Al harmonizing with himself is good stuff. And it seems like it's at least a 6 part harmony if you count the female part. Not easy to write. Not easy to sing. Beeeeutiful!

It's funny just before his new album came out I've been raving to all of my friends about what a musical genius Al is. He does such awesome harmonies on a lot of his songs. Anyways, I think he sounds good in "Last Night" in "Angry White Boy Polka." Yeah... that sounds real good.

What? I am the only one who appreciates the actual music?

Jeepers! :onfire:

No, I almost burned(from my OWN PERSONAL COLLECTION MIND YOU ;))

a CD of all-Al originAl, only because I appreciate his own flavor(even if he IS parodying a style)

Midnight Star

Buy Me a Condo

Dare to be Stupid

Dog Eat Dog

Melanie

Velvet Elvis

UHF

The Biggest Ball of Twine in (gasp) Minnesota

When I Was Your Age

Airline Amy

Frank's 2000" TV

Waffle King

Everything You Know is Wrong

I Remember Larry

My Baby's in Love with Eddie Vedder

Hardware Store

Genius in France

All those I'd put on because I enjoy the MUSIC, not the lyrics ;)

Doesn't mean I don't LIKE the lyrics, but I won't put something like "Young Dumb and Ugly" or "One More Minute", only because I don't care for the music as much as the lyrics. Do you understand that?

I also think that the harmonies in "Hardware Store" are the best of any songs. Just love that song!

I know I'm going for the obvious choice here, but I honestly think that "Frank's 2000" TV" is one of the band's best works.

My favorite part of the song (vocally) isn't necessary the awesome harmonies, but the strength in Al's voice when he sings "In your own living room!" Every time I listen to his music, I like his voice more and more.

*opens mouth* nevermind......

Sarah

one thing that amazes me...is how the band is able to reproduce the EXACT SAME MUSIC! I often listen to a parody than find the original (or listen to the overexposure in the mall) and I am constantly amazed by the painstaking work that was put in to sound SO close to the originals..

amazed...... :bigups:

The first time I listened to Trash Day, I seriously thought Al ditched the band and did the original music. But then I looked at the musician list and found out otherwise. They're really good. (Standing Ovation)
Work, is play. Tofutti break today.
