That was the posting of W&N that was LEAKED and ruined Al's AOL video premiere. He put it back up later himself, after the damage was already done.kaztaylor @ Nov 3 2006, 01:58 AM wrote: Didn't Al's record company remove the official "White & Nerdy" video from YouTube? That indicates their feeling on the matter.
BTW, the Tonight Show pages told us that if we were even seen in the studio with a cell phone, we would be immediately ejected. NBC is vigorously enforcing copyrights and trying to prevent their material from reaching YouTube.
"Weird Al" has a charisma that's all his own. The awkward, the misshapen, the socially inept flock to his banner.

What GrayJ said.GrayJ @ Oct 30 2006, 03:33 PM wrote: Hey, it doesn't matter if you use Limewire, or put music videos on YouTube. It IS illegal, but is anybody really gonna do anything about it? A Google-YouTube lawsuit...I'd love to see that.
Oh, and W&N (the user), even though people may have already put the videos on MySpace (I hope not), I wouldn't suggest it.
And those things won't be linked here out of respect for Al's ownership of them. Yeah, they're out there, and you can go check them out, but we won't be assisting the hooliganism.
The only exeptions to that are 1)items that Al has provided (like the W&N vid on his myspace page) 2)fan videos that are sanctioned/approved/linked at The Mothership, and 3) items that are not commercially available (we don't want to take away from Al's rightful royalties. Gotta keep Bela in poodle chow, you know.)

I know it's hard to realize this as huge Weird Al fans, but the truth is that most people don't want to buy Straight Outta Lynwood. They want to hear "White & Nerdy," not "Virus Alert." In a world where anyone could easily download the song or album for free, the public has made W&N a huge bona-fide hit. Thanks to iTunes, Al is climbing up the charts yet again. People want to hear the one they've heard on the radio and thanks to the way iTunes works, Al is able to get credit for an album sold every ten times someone downloads W&N. We should be grateful for the free exposure Al is getting on YouTube. If more people are exposed to a funny Al video for an original song, they might check out more of those videos which could ultimately lead to buying the album.
I couldn't tell a dirt clod from a plate of caviar.

I guess he's right, but if you can get all of the videos, not just one, online, there isn't much incentive to buying it...but still...I have a friend who had never bought a music CD in his entire life. He had downloaded tons of songs, and after I burned a CD with a song from SOL for him, he loved it so much he went out and bought the entire album. I guess that it all depends on the person. Some will buy it, some will download it...
The name is John, but you can call me JD! ^~^
