The actual article wasn't anywhere near the worst I've ever read, I think that would have to be that Tweak.com interview

After that flame war that was going on between the Al fans and the....non......al fans (or whatever title they're deemed worthy to hold) on the SoundBlog site, I really think it is a good idea to just steer clear of replying on those sites...I mean, sure we may be pointing out some major truths, but some of those anti-weird al people get pretty fiesty and start calling each other mean names. Somewhat funny , but I don't think it's wise to encourage them.

I hereby nominate Squirrelygirl as our Lead Attack Hamster-- I mean Squirrel-- in charge of civilized, restrained, mature responses. She does them so well (thanks, Linda! )

I second that nomination--SG, you just did a fine job replying in a mature fashion! I see that a lot of the comments were positive toward Al, so that made me feel better.

I'm sure if Al read that, he'd laugh. He's gotta be used to harsh, cruel, demeaning, hurtful reviews by now. Thing is, Al knows he won't be able to please everyone, so he doesn't pretend to be Mr EveryoneLovesMe. And he laughs in the face of nasty reviewers, that's what makes Al different from a lot of people.

And hey, it's why we love him - later on in his career, those reviewers will get what's coming to them with a sly parody and some media comments.

That's kind of a harsh article, but oh well. Some people just don't get Al and they probably never will.
