Plus, whenever a kids' television show tries to preach that watching TV is bad for you, it always comes off as hypocritical, which is probably why few shows attempt that message.

If it's bad to say that watching television is bad for you, then maybe instead Al could channel hop and find a show that's so interesting that he actually watches it for more than a minute for the very first time, and it could be revealed that if he watches the same program for more than a minute he becomes addicted to it (as long as it doesn't give the idea that watching television has this effect on everybody). Perhaps instead of saying that watching TV is bad for you, Weird Al could have made plans to do things with or for his friends that he chooses not to do because he became too obsessed with watching TV. He culd be too into watching television that he refuses to watch Harvey perform a stunt, refuses to let Madame Judy predict his future, and refuse to answer Bobby's questions (and maybe have Bobby attempt to start a film projector on his own).

I don't think I'd want to see an excersize segment last more than a minute, and unless the people at CBS changed their ways I wouldn't want to see a Fred Huggins episode last as long as a Fatman cartoon (though it would be funny to show a long Fred Huggins segment and have the Boolies question the viewer for watching the show for that long).

Weird Al had asked Leslie Nielson to make a guest appearance, but he was too busy acting in Mr. Magoo at the time, and by time production on the movie ended the show was cancled.

I know that. We're talking about hypothetical situations if the show had continued for a second season, hence the title of the thread "If the Weird Al Show Continuned For Another Season."

More harvey abuse via subversion of CBS's censorship.
I appreciated it when Al managed to toss harvey (explained by the sudden bursting in by the miners).
Perhaps Al could somehow accidentally swallow harvey,
and the hooded avenger would "abuse" Al (punches to the gut, hang upside-down, etc..) in order to retrieve the rodent.

(Oh, and the "sister station" to CBS where I lived was channel 62... yes, I watched "The Weird Al Show" on U62 !!!) 8)

Someone's mention of shows that try to enforce that TV is bad brought something to mind...

I was just discussing with someone, not too long ago, an entire episode of "Shining Time Station" that did exactly that - the station got in a few TV's, and soon, the kids were addicted to television. I specifically remember this extremely bizarre scene (well, when I was little, it was just damn frightening) of the kids having been "hypnotized" by the TV's. WTF?

i didnt like the fat man episodes, but i really liked the home movie segments i wish that there would have been more of that.
For possible episodes... The Hooded Avenger could have made Al his sidekick and they would go out crime fighting together and Al tried to hog all the fighting and the lesson would have been about teamwork

I think the best subversive activity going on was the home videos. Those should have continued. I mean, look at all the great violence going on: Al loses all his teeth, gets dragged under a horse, and pushed off a cliff. Plus Dr. Demento gets eaten. Not that I enjoy seeing those things happen, but it was definitely undermining the exec's problems with violence.

The second best subversive violence, in my opinion, was where Al dies at the end. I have no idea how they got away with it, but it was also a good way to screw with their standards.

Now, look at me! I look HAPPY that all these horrible things happen to Al! Kill me now...

:killed:

You're just as bad as I am, using cruel and wanton consumption of small animals to further your cause of beating up Al. Besides, one Richard Gere joke per commentary per show is quite enough. X*

It would have been a bit cool if Huey returned. Maybe there could have been a "Huey vs. Bobby" episode.

I wonder if an anti-drug episode would have been good. It could have been part parody of preachy anti-drug episodes, maybe making up a type of drug instead of using a real drug or brand. Maybe The Hooded Avenger could be the person doing the drug, to show that even superheroes are not immune to the side effects of drugs (or, if The Hooded Avenger is too calm to think that he needs drugs, maybe a Fatman cartoon could involve fatman doing drugs and losing his superpowers). Or maybe, if not Hooded Avenger, perhaps Corky or val could start doing drugs.

It would also be funny if there was a karaoke episode. Al could have a karaoke machien programed to just have weird al's songs, and perhaps Bobby could have stage fright while Al keeps trying to force him to sing, while the guy boarded up in the wall could lose his voice/ get laryngitis.
