New topic? Well, let me get this going with a new parody I wrote. It's called Concessions Pt. II and it is a parody of Confessions Pt. II by Usher.

Okay everyone. Pet is once again updated. This is hopefully gonna be the last version before I get a full band.

Click here and then scroll down to Pet. Choose your bitrate. Then listen.

Edit : Since my site is down, might as well link to my soundclick account.

Liam, Pet sounds much better! I see you've toned down the vocal effects. Good part on you. Keep it up! I can't wait to hear your next song.

Okay, my first parody posted on the forum. I have no method to record anythng (I'm not that creative), so you will just have to imagine what it would sound like.

GO BACK TO TEXAS

a parody of Bowling For Soup's "Ohio (Come Back to Texas)"

Come on now give us a break
Is this how our country thinks -
From Miami to Cleveland
And all over the Homeland
That you got what it takes?
There’s nothing wrong with Ohio
Except the way it did swing.
Although I voted for Kerry
I'd have liked to have seen
A President Howard Dean.

So when you’re done
Doing whatever
And when you're through
Bombing whoever
You know your Crawford ranch
Will be right there waiting for you.

Go back to Texas
We just ain’t the same
Since you’ve done your thing
Is this our new direction?
It’s not all about
The GOP.
Oh, they need a clown at the rodeo
And I heard they called your name
Besides the village called and their
Idiot is missing.

I think we made a mistake
(For you they’re not hard to make)
Your retirement plan
It’s going nuclear
Along with your pronouncing
It’s time to go back home
(I wish you’d go back)
It’s time to wave, say “So long”
(So long, so long)
Leave and you’ll hear all the cries
Watch the tears from our eyes
As we burst in song.

So when you’re done
Doing whatever
And when you're through
Bombing whoever
You know your Crawford ranch
Will be right there waiting for you.

Go back to Texas
We just ain’t the same
Since you’ve done your thing
Is this our new direction?
It’s not all about
The GOP.
Oh, they need a clown at the rodeo
And I heard they called your name
Besides the village called and their
Idiot is missing.

Oh, Dubya, just go back
With Cheney, take him back
And Condi, take her back
And Rumsfeld, he’s ready to pack
And Bolton, that dude’s whack
And Karl Rove (you got his back)

Oh, all across the nation
I'm taking a petition
And every state's gonna sign

Go back to Texas
We just ain’t the same
Since you’ve done your thing
Is this our new direction?
It’s not all about
The GOP.
Oh, they need a clown at the rodeo
And I heard they called your name

Not bad. I personally try to avoid Parodies having to do with the government, but that's just me. You need to work on the Ryhme scheme a little, and in some places the syllables don't quite match up. Good job, though :D

Thanks for the feedback.

Maybe it is the Writing Minor in me speaking, but off-rhyme (or a lack thereof) and a screwy meter can convey something in itself. For example, the Bard often deviated from the poetic rule (okay many poetic rules) to create a desired effect. If the rhyme is off and the meter doesn't quite flow, it could seem slightly uneducated and lacking in attention to detail - but if the subject seems...well I'll leave it at that (don't want to get too political here!).
