Thanks for the review. Nice pics too, you had good seats. Sorry the picture with Al didn't come out, but at least you've got your memories (and hopefully your brand new Instamatic too).

Hmm, was about to make mention - about 7 years too late - of having been to this gig, and then realised that someone's already linked to where I mentioned it on my blog!
Well, anyway, for completeness here's what I remember:
- there was a warmup comedian, a local bloke named Lehmo. I'm not entirely sure why they went with that format, as it doesn't seem to be the way Al usually does things. Lehmo was acceptable, nothing remarkable, but not too bad and acutely aware of the fact the crowd were all there for Al.
- for some reason the venue was reserved seating rather than general admission, so the fact it was all seated probably didn't help with crowd energy levels. My friends and I were in the third row and we were going crazy the whole time - couldn't tell you what was happening behind me.
- some of the people in the front 2 rows seemed slightly unmoved by the whole thing. At the time I remember wondering whether they'd been given freebie VIP tickets through work or something, or whether they'd just read "comedy" and it wasn't their cup of tea. Given the number of long-term Al die hard fanatics I ran into there, it seems odd to think that casual punters would have beaten them to it.
- the song that - 7 years on - stands out in the memory was "Your Horoscope For Today", which had us all creased up despite the fact we all knew it backwards. When it got to the "KILL THEM" bit, and the stage blacked out other than the red light on Al's face I genuinely thought my friend Doug was going to laugh himself into hospital.
- after the gig I was standing out the front talking with some friends, and then someone came running around from the back shouting "AL'S SIGNING AUTOGRAPHS!!!!". At this point, a single-file queue formed around the outside of the venue. I didn't get involved, but as I stood there chatting with friends I noticed that Al stayed in there signing and greeting until every single person in that line who wanted to meet him had been through. What a top bloke.
