Orlando Show
I saw Weird Al live for the first time July 5th at the House of Blues in Orlando.
I never heard the songs from Poodle Hat before either, let me tell you.......I rushed out to get me copy the day after!!! I wore a tiki shirt and a parrot hat (ball cap with a parrot on top) to get Weirds attention, I think it worked!!! I met some people who worked at Disney at the show and we hungout near the front of the stage. Neadless to say, we looked straight at him the whole time, enjoying every second!!! My favorite Weird songs were done too including My Balongna only without the huge belch, lol. We even got some of the water from his cup after he gargled from smells like nervana. After the concert we waited by the back exit to try to meet him. An hour later Steve and Jim came out to sign autographs for us!!! What a great night i will always remember!!!!!!!!!!!

I went to see Weird Al in Orlando. I was supposed to go with my friend Barbara. She had just gotten back from Brazil two nights earlier and came home with an intestinal flu. So she couldn't go and none of my other friends had the day off- we Disney people usually work on Saturday. So I had to go alone. I got there really early (I was maybe the 20th person in line) and I was right in front of the stage. I was probably about 5 feet away from Al- we made eye contact a few times. I also got splashed with water when he threw it at the audience after the gurgling in "Smells like Nirvana."
So I was all ready to have him autograph my spatula after the show. I was waiting with about 75 people after the show and the numbers gradually declined as time went on. Steve Jay and Jim West came out (I got their autographs) and Steve hinted that Al was coming out later. The House of Blues people came out and told us he left. But this one girl who's been to a few of his concert said that he always come out after the show but waits awhile until there are only about 15 people (the real fans who don't just want to get his autograph to sell on Ebay). I was there until there were five of us left. We were singing "I Lost on Jeopardy" in a vigil type of way. Al never showed up and some security guards told us to leave. =( So me and my four new friends went out to a late night dinner. It's kind of weird- like being in a secret society. I couldn't really imagine being able to just go out with a group of people I just met like that aside from a Weird Al concert (or the Rocky Horror Picture Show). So it was a drag I didn't get to meet Al but it was a fun night with the people I met. I was out really late- I didn't get to bed until 4 am and had to be at work at 9.
But the show itself was great. Not just because of Al's performance but the audience was really into it. I was expecting it to be mostly casual fans from Orlando but there were hard core fans from all over. Everyone was mouthing along to the lyrics including the more obscure ones like "Dog Eat Dog." I hadn't seen Al in concert since I was a kid and this crowd was much more alive. Overall it was a great show.

I totally agree with you there, the Orlando crowd was awesome. Much better then the first Weird Al concert I went to in Melborne, Fl in 2000.

Re: Great Show!!
QUOTE I hated standing for 4 hours. I drove up from Ft Lauderdale to see the concert because Orlando was the only stop in Florida this year....LAME!!
Atleast there's a concert in your state. He doesn't even have ONE in Oregon  . Anyways I thought you shouldn't be complaining about. I would gladly stand for 4 hours to whatch Al.
