Re: Album 14 Speculation :3
I too was hoping for a parody of something rock-ish, a la Muse, etc. As for style parodies, we need to see first what the "other two" Alpocalypse originals are going to be like. (I see lots of potential in both tracks 10 and 12, for those of you who've seen the track listing on Wikipedia or Amazon already.)
I think this idea is something I previously read on this board, but if he were to do a screamo style parody? Like a really really really emo rock original? It's something he's not yet tried, and the band could definitely pull that off.

Re: Album 14 Speculation :3
Al mentioned that Ode to a Superhero was almost a parody of Rocket Man. Alas...
^ Re: emo. Yeah, that's one genre Al's never touched and I'm really surprised he didn't. Emo was a huge thing, especially around the time SOL came out, but by this point it wouldn't be as topical. The genre's run its course in the public limelight. Even My Chemical Romance's music sounds nothing like that now. If he did it, I'd expect a style parody before a real one.
I'm also hoping for a Flaming Lips style parody someday.
And the parody targets will most likely be a bunch of artists who we don't know yet.

Jon said this in the first post, but I'd LOVE to see Al tackle Bruce Springstein somehow, either a style or a direct parody.

Yeah I agree, but the thread is already jumpin' lol. Somebody mentioned the Flaming Lips, I saw them in Toronto one time, pretty interesting performance, would be a great opener at an Al show if he ever decided to start using one.
What a racket they're makin', Jack, they keep me up at night playin' their electric guitars!!

I'm just imagining Al rolling around on top of the crowd in one of those bubble/hamster ball things and it's making me laugh to myself.

Re: Album 14 Speculation :3
Rock is dead, guys. You need to accept it. As for me, I'd like to see a lot more rap parodies on this album, like more than one. That's what the public wants nowadays, and that's what will get Al the big bucks.
How old was that last signature? I mean, really?

Re: Album 14 Speculation :3
Rap is just as "dead" as rock. It's the pop decade, and Alpocalypse reflects that.
