QUOTE Gee, Roger. What'd he do? Run over you dog? The infamous Roger Ebert UHF review. Those Siskel and Ebert bums oughtta go home and just sit on their thumbs.
I hate that review. Very evil. Then I remember the reviews Al read during the ending credits on UHF during the commentary. Makes me wonder just how many critics have a sense of humor.
QUOTE Yankovic's experience has been with parodies of the work of other artists. They have the inspiration; he finds the puns for their lyrics and sends up the visual look of their videos. His best comic distance is about two minutes.
If that's all he knows about Al's previous work, or doesn't think enough to do more research, then maybe he's not the most qualified person to critique Al's career outside of the movie.
It's the equivalent to saying, "Well, I think this guy has done something else that I can hardly call entertaining, so he has no business making a film."
I used to like Ebert, but after reading some of his review books he just comes off as pretentious, lazy, and creepy. And now that Siskel is no longer around to keep him in check, he's become a cliche whose opinions carry very little weight anymore.
Trust me, if there was nudity in "UHF," he would have liked it a whole lot more.
And finally....
QUOTE But Yankovic is so happy to have a laugh - any laugh - that he forgets that discipline is a key element in comedy. When anything goes, nothing is funny
Yes, like those very disciplined jokes in "Airplane"....and we all know how unfunny that movie is!
Stupid Zomba! They don't have the new publicity photo or any info on Poodle Hat or the tour. They even spell the link to The Mothership incorrectly... wierdal.com, indeed.
How come Poodle Hat is not a featured release, when Aaron Carter's is?
Good thing Bermuda registered wierdal.com as well.
