I did an interview with Dave at the Apollo. I haven't seen the results yet.

Well in Milwaukee where you're on your own home turf, maybe you can be the host for this one?weird_el wrote:I did an interview with Dave at the Apollo. I haven't seen the results yet.
I am a big advocate for YNN having a wide variety of reporters from all over the place!

So I take it we've moved on to the central time zone and are gonna have to wait an extra hour for setlists?

Why Does This Always Happen To Me
Young, Dumb & Ugly
Velvet Elvis
The Biggest Ball Of Twine In Minnesota
(Drum Solo)
Buy Me A Condo
My Baby's In Love With Eddie Vedder
(Roadie/Stage Manager Solo) - not really, but Al's accordion mic died mid-song, so Hawkeye came out to fix it after the song and Al shouted out...
Generic Blues
(Stage Manager Solo) This time, Jim called for Hawkeye (and I think it was before this one)
CNR
Dare To Be Stupid
(Drum Solo Reprise)
I'll Sue Ya
One More Minute
(Bass Solo)
Midnight Star
Don't Download This Song
Nature Trail To Hell
(Recorder Solo) by Emo Philips (into Al's mic)
Jackson Park Express
(Ratchet Solo) by Al
Unplugged Medley
Encore
Beer Barrel Polka
The Saga Begins
-Note; Nobody sang the lyrics to Beer Barrel - just instrumental

This was a crazy show. Crowd was pretty rowdy. There was a very persistent crying baby during Emo's set that was incredibly distracting. And many hecklers in the audience. There was no ill will, but as Kumail Nanjiani points out in "The Big Sick", it doesn't matter if it's "positive" heckling. Emo's jokes have timing and setups and punchlines. Shouts from the crowd and crying babies step on the comedy...Anyway, Emo did fine. The crowd loved him, and towards the end, he threw in a few short "one line" type older jokes that everyone ate up.
Yeah, Al's accordion mic cut out in the middle of "Eddie Vedder". I've always hated the mic placement on his accordions in concert. Every since my first concert in 1992 for "Deep End". I was front row, and in junior high. I couldn't see any microphone picking up his accordion (and I couldn't hear it very well). Someone in the crew told me it was "mic"ed internally - inside the bellows. I'm no expert, but I've seen They Might Be Giants a few times, and Linnell's accordion has two microphones attached to the outside, and I could ALWAYS hear his playing fine in concert. Anyway, like I said, I'm no expert. Just unvarnished observations.
Yeah, Emo came out and did a very extensive recorder solo. This was an odder show of the ones I've seen so far this tour. And this is my 4th show, and besides the "Beer Barrel Polka", the ONLY song they played that they didn't play in Chicago (or Champaign, IL) was "Eddie Vedder". Kind of disappointing since there are still 9(!!!) songs they're doing that I've NEVER seen them do live (7 of which are new for this tour), and it's becoming evident that seeing 5 shows on this tour will not enable me to see them all. There's no way they'll play Traffic Jam, Christmas At Ground Zero, Good Enough For Now, I Was Only Kidding, One Of Those Days, Stop Forwarding That Crap To Me, That Boy Could Dance, and Truck Drivin' Song all at the same show - they're not in the rotation enough. And I haven't heard Mr. Popeil either, but it's not new to this tour. Ah well. It was certainly a great show.
No sour grapes here. Just would like to see them all.

I've pretty much only ever seen him use "electric" accordions with an internal mic. This tour, his accordion is basically digital - a MIDI controller that can trigger any sound.bizarreblair wrote: I've always hated the mic placement on his accordions in concert.
