Eh, yeah. Sorry, Al, but even as a T over A guy, I'd still choose asses over accordions any day.
And Peggy

Because you know the world's all about that bass, 'bout that bass, no treble, based on Google's lists.
I'm sorry, I couldn't resist.

2014 Was The Year Of Weird Al
Stuff like this bothered me:
"But as the age of music videos faded into the past, so too, it seemed, did Weird Al.
Now the King is dead, and whenever Madonna tries to be naughty and outrageous, her longtime fans beg her to stop."
Really? There's more, but I'll save it for you to read. Here's the tweet he posted with the link to the article:
"I wrote about @alyankovic's 2014 resurgence. To my knowledge, his record label hasn't banned him today."
Trying to figure out why he said that. At least he didn't use the word comeback. He decided resurgence
was a better term.
Al never left, dude!

4 words that Al said to me that blew me away:
"How's Problem Child doing?" - 7/12/11
So awesome!
Al Team #325

It did ?? I watch more music videos nowadays than I ever did. Maybe it's because we never had MTV, but it seems to me that videos are more important than ever. Or is he refer to that short period "after MTV, before Youtube" that Al sometimes mentions? But as the age of music videos faded into the past
I too have no idea what that meansTo my knowledge, his record label hasn't banned him today.

Re: Newspaper and Magazine Alerts
I don't really see anything wrong with the article or the word "resurgence." It's sort of stretching the truth to say that he was "quietly producing albums" and that people weren't paying attention in the past, because every album has gotten a decent amount of publicity (and yes, reports of a "comeback"). But after about a decade or so of Al slowly gaining respect in the comedy and music worlds, 2014 really was the year where he finally emerged as a credible mainstream act. In short, it's officially cool to like Weird Al now. Most of us at WOWAY have been smart enough to be way ahead of the curve, and we know that Al has kept busy since the 80s, but I don't think I've ever seen Al show up on multiple "year in review" sort of lists before. Maybe "White and Nerdy" made a few "Best of 2006" rankings but this really was a resurgence year for him--and the best part is, I don't think he's gonna need another one. Perhaps I'm being overly optimistic, but I think the age of Weird Al is here to stay.

I definitely think you're onto something, Anth. I've been really surprised by the number of random people I've heard discussing Al recently. I used to think of Al as somewhat of a well-kept secret, and when I talked to people about him, it was like I was letting them in on the secret. I don't feel that way any more.
Oh by the way, I've cracked the code.
