Best Parody Target

Post by TMBJon »

Forgetting about the now well-known Weird Al parodies, which of these five original songs do you actually like the most?

Yes, I am including both RCHP songs.

Aerosmith. Easy choice.

In order:

Livin' in the Fridge
Under the Bridge/Give It Away
Achy Breaky Heart
MacArthur Park

Interestingly, if I listed the parodies in order from best to worst, it would be exactly reversed.

Kinda weird you put both Red Hot Chilli Peppers down even though they are both part of the same parody, and Under the Bridge isn't even in there for very long

Went with Aerosmith too. Never cared much for RHCP. There are a couple of their songs I like, but neither of these two. Honestly, Livin' on the Edge isn't even that great of an Aerosmith song to me, but the other choices are just too bad to consider.

As much as I like Aerosmith, I actually prefer "Under The Bridge" over "Livin' On The Edge."

I had to go with "Give It Away". If Al had parodied "Dude Looks Like a Lady" (or really anything else from Aerosmith), they would've had my vote. I find "Livin' on the Edge" to quite boring. :|

Aerosmith is one of those bands you think I'd dig, but I've never really into, save for a couple songs here and there. Went with Give it Away.
You have quickly thought up such matchless phrase?

It took me until just now to realize that "Alapalooza" technically had 5 parodies, but two of them were in the same song.

Weird.

I voted for Under The Bridge, definitely in the running for my favorite original song that Al has ever parodied.

After that there's a big dropoff. Give It Away has a slight edge over Livin On The Edge. Not that into MacArthur Park, and Achy Breaky Heart is absolutely horrible.
In fact, Achy Breaky Song was the first Weird Al song I ever heard. I was very familiar with the original and could barely tolerate it. Then I heard ABS on the radio; it was the first parody I had ever experienced, and I bought Greatest Hits II the very next day. Haven't stopped listening since.
