Re: Mandatory Fun Videos
We now have pretty much confirmation of what I have suspected all along, that the Jack Black video is not for Handy, since Handy was filmed yesterday.
So the question is what video is the one with Jack Black? There are two most likely possibilities.
1) "Tacky"
Evidence for: The pink shirt Al was wearing on set, the #fannypack on Jack Black's photo, and the fact that the Happy video already includes a number of cameos
Evidence against: If the video attempts to parody Happy, it would be mostly shot outside and in various locations
2) Word Crimes
Evidence for: The cast list is exactly right, with three men and three women, especially with a single black woman like in the original. The original is extremely iconic and would be easy to replicate in a single room
Evidence against: The pink shirt and #fannypack don't seem to fit.
So, looking at all that, I really hope it is for Word Crimes, but can't justify the pink shirt and #fannypack, so it looks like it might be Tacky after all. I suppose it's possible that it's neither though.

I think you mean "Tacky."Bruce the Duck wrote:We now have pretty much confirmation of what I have suspected all along, that the Jack Black video is not for Handy, since Handy was filmed yesterday.

1) "Fancy"
Fair point, but there's a lot in that video that could be green-screened. I think it's the most likely choice.Evidence for: The pink shirt Al was wearing on set, the #fannypack on Jack Black's photo, and the fact that the Happy video already includes a number of cameos

Well, if you're going to note that there's a single black woman, don't you also have to acknowledge that there are no black men? The original video has two and Al's also has an Asian woman, so the cast isn't exactly right.2) Word Crimes

True. It's almost certainly a parody though (because I don't think Al would enlist such a recognizable cast for an original) which would leave just "Foil" and "Inactive" as the possibilities. Hmmmm...I suppose it's possible that it's neither though.

I thought of that, but then why would he use green screen rather than actually filming around town. The only reason might be to avoid being spotted by the public and having the concept spoiled on social media.

Exactly right in terms of the numbers and replicating what's going on in the original.Well, if you're going to note that there's a single black woman, don't you also have to acknowledge that there are no black men? Like I said, I think the likely one is Tacky, mostly because of the #fannypack and pink shirt. Maybe it's a bit of wishful thinking for it to be Word Crimes.

Is there any possibility at all that the video featuring Jack Black, et al. was for NOW That's What I Call Polka?

I meant some of the indoor scenes. For the street stuff, there's no reason not to do it outside. That said, if he's replicating the "Happy" video, he probably isn't using green screen unless it's for an impossible shot.Bruce the Duck wrote: I thought of that, but then why would he use green screen rather than actually filming around town. I get that, but then I don't see why there being exactly one black woman matters. It just seems like you're looking for reasons for it to beExactly right in terms of the numbers and replicating what's going on in the original.
'Word Crimes" instead of looking for clues to what it is. But anyway, I wouldn't be surprised if we get a Word Crimes video, because the original is so sparse (I mean, they couldn't even afford CLOTHES for everybody!) and the constant hashtag titles lend themselves to the presumed theme of Al's song.
It is, but that's okay. Word Crimes is pretty much guaranteed to be awesome.Maybe it's a bit of wishful thinking for it to be Word Crimes.

Isn't it possible that pink shirt is... just that? A pink shirt Al owns and wears out of costume?Bruce the Duck wrote:So, looking at all that, I really hope it is for Word Crimes, but can't justify the pink shirt and #fannypack, so it looks like it might be Tacky after all. Jack Black was wearing a casual black T-shirt in one of the photos too. I'm pretty sure that's the case.Mystik Tomato wrote: Isn't it possible that pink shirt is... just that? A pink shirt Al owns and wears out of costume?
