Mission Statement

Post by Bruce the Duck »

What the heck could this possibly be about?

Someone mentioned it might relate to the album theme. It's possible, but I doubt it.

Someone suggested business jargon, like "Check's in the Mail."

Neither of these ideas really do it for me. What else do you guys have?

Discuss.

If it's not related to the album theme, I have no idea. Someone speculated (I believe it was Jon) that this might be the 90's band pastiche.

My guess is for a club/group and it's their mission statement. It starts out regular, but then slowly devolves into wacky, strange things/rituals.

I like that possibility. Along the lines of "I Remember Larry".

The corporate jargon idea came partially from finding sites like these:
https://cmorse.org/missiongen/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I had difficulty using it in some browsers so here's some results I got using the words they already had:
We strive to synergistically leverage others' best practice benefits so that we may continue to collaboratively create virtual resources while maintaining 100% customer satisfaction.
Our vision is to assertively foster enterprise-wide catalysts for change in order to continue to seamlessly enhance corporate infrastructures to solve business problems.
It is our objective to enthusiastically orchestrate corporate methods as well as continually customize professional deliverables.
Etc, Etc.

Ahhh...so perhaps they lyrics will be full of nonsensical business-speak.

Hmm. My first instinct to that would be that it wouldn't be very funny. But then, the last verse of "Hardware Store" and the entirety of "Bob" were two of my biggest laugh-out-loud moments from any of his past albums. So depending on the style parody subject, you could have something there.

But I'd kind of hate to have the second longest song spent on gibberish.

Mormons seem to still be slightly popular, but I doubt he'd go down any "religious" path. It would fit the "Mission Statement" title though.

Plus, Mormonism has already been done in comedy music form...

"Pretty Fly for a Rabbi?"

But I don't think he'd do that, more because it would feel like he's borrowing too heavily from the broadway show.
