So, "Happy" wouldn't lend itself to a lead single well. Let's not rule out the possibility of it being an OK supporting parody for the album.

I know it isn't the most accurate way to keep track of popularity, but on several torrent sites, Katy Perry's Prism album and Pharrell Williams G.I.R.L. album are both topping the download pages in the top 100 lists right now.

All of the tracks for Alpocalypse were completed 6 months before Perform This Way was recorded. It is more likely that Al will wait for a great lead parody idea rather than just doing whatever song is popular right now just to get the album out. Even if the wait is several months or a year from now. I like the fact that no tracks from this album have been released yet and he's waiting to release the entire thing at once. Alpocalypse always felt "off" to me because I had heard half of the tracks a couple of years before the album came out.

I agree with Alpocalypse not feeling like a real "new" album for that reason, but I think that was because he released so many tracks early that he was able to hold back on releasing the official full album. In this case, since he's not "leaking" tracks, I have to think he probably will not want to sit on 11 completed songs for a whole year waiting for a lead parody target before releasing anything. Not sure of the subject matter in the existing songs, of course, but I'm sure he wants to get everything out while the themes (and parodied songs) are as fresh as possible.

Not saying he will necessarily force a sub-par lead parody on a song that is released over the summer just to have a a parody of a recent song to lead off the album, but I have a hard time thinking he'll wait a whole year from now before releasing anything. If no good targets present themselves soon, maybe he'll go into the wayback machine and kick the album off with a classic song parody a'la "Jurrasic Park" or "The Saga Begins". There's an unlimited supply of classic rock he can always pull from.

I have 2 thoughts on this. One I think Al would like to have the strongest possible lead single for his final album. Two, once he finishes this last album hes free to record whatever whenever so theres not as much pressure to have a killer lead because theres the possibility of another WaN 3 weeks later. Personally i want the biggest song of his career to make this the best album ever.

I'm still blown away about some considering those songs spoilers even though they were officially released material.

Nothing more than speculation here, but Doogtoons released a new interview cartoon with Al. Maybe this is a sign that they're animating a video for the new album? He hasn't had a video with them posted in a while, so maybe he was in the studio checking on their progress and recorded a few quick interviews? I dunno. Anyways, if they are animating a new video for him, I just hope to God it's better than the Trapped In The Drive Thru one.

I didn't consider those songs to be spoilers. Im just saying that when I first listened to the album in it's entirety, it felt more like a compilation album that included some songs I hadn't heard yet, rather than a new original piece of work. It's still a really good album. I just prefer hearing 12 new songs all at once. That's just me though, some people would rather get the songs one at a time and not wait for the actual record.

I totally agree, but on the other hand if a handful of songs were made available one at a time prior to Album 14's release I'm pretty sure I wouldn't hesitate to download them vs. waiting for the full album to drop. :P

(But yeah, when the album did drop it wouldn't seem nearly as "special".)
