On a different part of their website, the policy is stated this way:"All shows at the Casino Ballroom are ages 18+ unless specified on the event that you are attending. You must have a federally issued I.D. to enter the Ballroom, this is a state law there are no exceptions. Parents or legal guardians may bring children under the age of 18 but they must remain with them at all times."
I called the venue today and asked more questions, just to be sure. Basically, no one under 18 can come without their own parent(s) or legal guardian(s). All adults must bring their proper ID. I asked, "can an adult bring their own child, and another child that isn't their own (like one of their child's friends)?" She said that the official policy is that anyone under 18 must be there with their own parents. I don't know how they could really enforce that, but that's what she said."18 or older to enter unless accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, or unless show is marked "All Ages"
21 or older to drink
No identification, No entry
Government issued ID required
Before anyone asks, the 18+ policy has nothing to do with gambling. This venue is NOT a gambling casino; gambling is illegal in NH. The venue has had the name "casino" for over 100 years. Here is the explanation from the History page of their website:
At that time, the word "casino" did not connote a gambling establishment as we understand it today. The word is Italian for "summer house" and came to describe a social gathering place, a room or building where one could dance, listen to music, and gamble. Lovell likely chose the term because, at the time, all things European were vogue in America. The name sounded exotic, and was familiar to thousands of immigrant workers in Lowell, Lawrence and Haverhill.
