Im not sure this song was lack of success. The youngsters in the crowd really seemed to anticipate it at both shows in Toronto. Musically, its just not that great but still sounds fine live.
What a racket they're makin', Jack, they keep me up at night playin' their electric guitars!!

More proof that a Gaga parody was a terrible idea to begin with...Born This Way only got a best female video nomination at the MTV awards.
It hasn't exactly been a banner year for her either. Outside of the initial buzz for her album and the sales rush when it was released, it's been slowly falling out of the top 10 (It finally left this week), the follow up singles have done very little (In fact, Edge Of Glory probably bought the album a few more weeks in the spotlight)....
Maybe, just maybe, the Gaga backlash rubbed off on Al. PTW is heavier on the original artist than anything else.
BTW, this is just a THEORY. I don't want any monster attacks

You have quickly thought up such matchless phrase?

I voted other. I listen to a lot of top 40 radio, and Born this way was a hit but not as big or long lasting as some of her previous stuff. Judas came and went, Edge of glory is a big pile of Blah...
In other words, no Big Summer Hit here.
If there had been PTW would have been bigger!

And you keep trying to "correct" him out of some sort of strange misconception or overzealous Grammatical Nazism. Yes, the original Latin meaning of "anticipare" (literally "to take before") was to prepare for or act in advance of something or to be the first to accomplish something, but the modern English meaning of looking forward to or eagerly awaiting something is as old as the 16th century. Language changes over time. It evolves. Meanings change. Forms change. Oððe þencest þu þæt we sculen geana þus sprecan?RyanHippFTW wrote:Yankomaniac wrote:You keep using that word...

Really, what was the point in mentioning that? I like that word, it is one hell of a word. I shall continue using it whenever I see fit. I actually very much anticipate my next opportunity!

- Well, except "geana" means "still" or "yet." "Or thinkest thou that we should STILL speak thus?" I actually probably should have used "gen," which is the simpler and more common form of the word. It's from that ge- root that we get modern English time-related adverbs like "yet" and "again."

Or, for that matter, Carly Simon's.The Sporkman wrote: seriously, there's nothing wrong with Yankomaniac's use of the word "anticipate."
