Is AL-TV returning or did you find a nice interview? Just tell the folks here.

Hot Coffee

Post by mrmeadows »

Just watched an HBO Documentary called "Hot Coffee"--which was partially about the woman who sued McDonald's for spilling hot coffee on her lap, and mostly about tort reform in general--and they used a clip from the animated video from "I'll Sue Ya". Of course, they used the line about the Frappaccino. (Side note: highly recommend the doc, aside from the Al clip.)

Ive been hovering over that video on HBOGo for the last week. I was gonna watch it Tuesday, but I watched the Bobby Fischer doc instead. Now that seems like a poor choice

the clip was brief, but I'm glad the filmmaker knew enough to use it since it fit the subject matter perfectly.

Also seen parts of that documentary. Noticed the Weird Al part. I just go with the milkshake.
@minnick27 the rest of the documentary wasn't mind blowing ;)

I watched this doc yesterday. GREAT film, and I think everyone here should see it.

Agreed. Mind-blowing? Not really....but very informative, and cuts through a lot of misconceptions about these kinds of lawsuits. And it has a clip of Al singing "I'll Sue Ya". I guess that kind of blew my mind.

We watched a couple clips of this in my Torts class last semester. I'd really like to see the whole thing because I thought the clips were very interesting. I was amazed by how little I actually knew about the McDonald's coffee case. Before watching these clips, I always just pictured Kramer spilling coffee on himself while trying to sneak it into the movies ("Who told you to put the balm on? Have you ever seen a balm?").
