I was thinking it would just parody the Poker face video, not necessarily all the songs in polka face.

I have to admit, I'm loving Al's Taylor Swift parody a lot. A lot to the point of making my own mix of the multi-tracks that Jace sent me from Karaoke-Version.com. One thing that's always facinated me about Al's parodies of female vocalists is lowering the key to better suit his vocal range. I always have so much fun when I find out how many semitones he lowered for a specific song.
For example, You Belong With Me's original signature key is F#, but Al lowered the key by five semitones, making TMZ's signature key Db, which honestly reminds me of A Complicated Song's signature key, since it, too is in Db. Only, with Avril Lavigne's Complicated being in F, Al only lowered the key down by four semitones.
In fact, I've noticed a pattern with Al's strategy of altering a song's original key. The average amount of semitones lowered in Al's songs ranges anything from three to six semitones, with the average being four.

No, he probably does, but since it's a foreign version of the site, less people will have access to the previews. I even searched Google UK and it hasn't indexed the page yet, guaranteeing that anyone that doesn't go to this forum won't know that the previews exist.weirdojace wrote:Well the previews are still there, so maybe Al doesn't really care if people hear them this time around.
How old was that last signature? I mean, really?

I'm trying to resist the previews until the album is out. But I gave in to "Polka Face" just to see how it compares to the live performance, and listened to literally one second of the previews for "TMZ" and "Party in the CIA" just to see what key they were in. that's not weird

I'm not holding my breath for any other kind of "Polka Face" video than editing clips together. I guess Al showed us that after CNR came out, he or his record label didn't really care about samples of unheard songs being posted on sites like Amazon (as long as they were just their international counterparts). By the way, I guess somebody already downloaded the "preview all songs" sample clip from Amazon UK and posted them in a video on YouTube. I wonder how quickly that will get deleted?
Also, I just noticed that "Party In The CIA" is a full fifteen seconds shorter than the original. If Al didn't speed up his version, he probably just cut out a verse that he couldn't make funny. My guess would be that he cut out this.
...ditto "Another Tattoo" which is actually 53 seconds shorter. He probably cut the second verse from that one.

Do you have a link to that video? I'd like to know what the guy did with those previews. How would one have downloaded them, anyway? Aren't they flash objects?Killingsworth wrote:By the way, I guess somebody already downloaded the "preview all songs" sample clip from Amazon UK and posted them in a video on YouTube. I could see cutting a verse out of "Nothin' On You", which is the one original that I frankly don't think I ever listened through the whole way. It's just a long, never-ending song to me. I got the idea after a couple of verses. . .so I'd be okay with cutting it short.Killingsworth wrote: Also, I just noticed that "Party In The CIA" is a full fifteen seconds shorter than the original. But "Party in the USA" only really has 2 verses, and we know they are both there because the 30 sec. clip includes the beginning of verse #2. I guess if he was going to cut a real chunk out of the song it would be the "bridge" that you posted, but I would be surprised (and slightly disappointed) if he did that. However, the original song does milk the chorus a lot, especially at the end where Miley repeats the "so I put my hands up...blah-blah-blah" part a few times. I could see Al just cutting that short and getting to the end faster without all those repeats.
Might be funny if the song ended abruptly, with the CIA agent getting "neutralized" by an enemy spy or blown up or something. (Although that might be too similar to the end of "Canadian Idiot", not to mention possibly a bit too close to reality to be funny.)
