I thought I read something where Al said the last track wouldn't necessarily be epic in terms of length, just in content/production value.
I couldn't tell a dirt clod from a plate of caviar.

Has the word "epic" even been used to describe one of the tracks on the album though? I only know of the instance of the "big ballad" mentioned by Bermuda in that interview about his toms and the "big production number" mentioned in a tweet of Al's.

One of the definitions of epic is: heroic, majestic, impressively great. So it doesnt have to be epic in length, but if the production is out of this world, it will be epic

huh...I thought I made a post somewhere asking of the intro to "Polka Face" was an original composition or a classic polka...TMBJon wrote:Also, the mention of Lichtensteiner Polka as being the first song used in Polka Face. For reference, here is that song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5gDlYKrkQK8" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; It sounds, as you might have guessed, pretty much exactly like the opening measures of Polka Face before "muh muh muh muhhh"

IIRC, Al has stated that he carefully selects his parody songs so that he won't detest performing the song a few weeks/months/years later. [There are parodies that test the rule of course e.g. Girls Just Wanna Have Lunch.] I don't think Al could even get through one verse of that wretched "Friday" song.TMBJon wrote:I do think that Al should probably be looking at some non-traditional indicators of what to parody these days. Billboard doesn't tell you the whole picture anymore in the world of YouTube and other alternative forms of media distribution. Friday and Bed Intruder are both examples of songs that Al could feasibly parody that didn't really make a dent in the Billboard charts.

I personally tried to parody Friday, and I can wholeheartedly agree that it's too much for one man to accomplish. Al has much better things to waste his talent on. He's not going to torture himself.
How old was that last signature? I mean, really?

HUGE NEWS, FOLKS!!!
iTunes has the prelisting of Alpocalypse up, and it confirms the parody targets for the album.
"TMZ" is a parody of "You Belong to Me" by Taylor Swift
"Another Tattoo" is a parody of "Nothin' on You" by B.O.B. featuring Bruno Mars
The others are as expected!

Awesome!!! TMZ wasn't the song I was expecting to be parodied there, but now that I know this new piece of info, I'm very excited for it.
Plus, this is another album where I find myself knowing most of the parodies ahead of time. In fact, the only song I don't know that well is Nothin' On You. But I know that I've heard it a bit before, and now I have a month to get myself more acquainted with it.

Awesome! Nice find, Bruce! Taylor Swft and BoB are both solid choices.
