It was just a joke, man. Lighten up.Alinite27 wrote:Fine. I'm glad that Al got his permission because he worked so hard on putting this thing together. Nice to know of the process he went through. Yeah, if I was that manager, I would be fearing for my job security. Jon, I'm not wasting any more comments on you. If you want to continue your crap, you can just argue with yourself. I support Al. I will not be buying the single or the video, so money doesn't expressly go to them. I will buy the album because I support Al. I'm not worried about where money goes from the tour because I'm sure that it's distributed in many segments of ways to many different people. The segment that goes to Al he can do what he wants with. It's his money. Which I pay to him. Not HRC. I just wish you knew how pathetic you sound. It's over.

What a hilarious song! Love how harsh he is towards Gaga. Absolutely cannot wait for the video! And yes, for some odd reason I'm proud he wrote the song while on tour here.

Without reading through all the posts, I'm just going to say this: Looks like Lady Gaga needs to fire her manager.

Unfortunately, the chances of that actually happening are slim.Muldernscully wrote:Looks like Lady Gaga needs to fire her manager.
How old was that last signature? I mean, really?

Re: Perform This Way (New song on YouTube)
That hardly ever happens. From what I've read, it seems Al is always getting permission from managers and doesn't talk to the artists themselves. Look at the Coolio incident.JCM wrote:Well, there were serious mistakes on both sides. Al should have waited until Lady Gaga was back so he could ask her in person, and Lady Gaga should have hired less sucky agents. This has become the exact opposite of Amish Paradise, and now the album has taken its worst hit imaginable. None of this would have happened if there was just clearer freaking communication.

Re: Perform This Way (New song on YouTube)
I'm still feeling a bit cynical about this. I'm seeing a scenario where: Gaga actually did hear the parody and actually did not like it and actually did turn it down. If she really does "love Weird Al," she could have said "yes" after reading the lyrics, because anybody who loves Weird Al already knows how respectfully Al treats the music and the production values generally. Then the whole internet, basically, rose up in revolt against her and she realized how uncool she would look to be failing to take a joke, dissing a much-more-beloved-than-she-realized icon of popular culture and depriving HRC of some income. So she decides to backpedal and her manager agrees to take the fall. Would she really employ a manager who's idiot enough to make a decision like that without getting her input? Can we really believe that touring is such a hectic occupation that it doesn't allow her 5 minutes to listen to a song? When Al was able to WRITE it while touring pretty hectically himself? No, sorry, doesn't pass the sniff test. The most I'm really willing to allow her is the ability to realize quickly that she made a bad decision and move just as quickly to un-decide it.

Re: Perform This Way (New song on YouTube)
I don't really get the whole "Disappointed there won't be a surprise" thing. Just about every artist releases the big single from the new album months before the albums release. Hell, Born this Way has been out since February, and the album it appears on won't be out for another month. Now granted, most other artists do this for publicity purposes to get radio play and TV exposure for the single, neither of which Al is ever likely to get much (and in the case of mainstream radio none) of, but it's still not much different than any other artist.
