Birmingham UK 02/12/10 (last night!! minor spoiler warning?)

Did anyone else go???? It was amazing! Got there a little early and it worked out in our favour - ended up front row centre, so close i could touch the stage! It was immense, i got spat on during smells like nirvana and during wanna b ur lovr, he ended up going right into the crowd! no barriers or anything, he was literally in with us all :D I was praying that he might sing to me lol, but he was right in the back and it was getting near the end of the song....but then he returned to the stage for the 'girl you must be jamaican!' bit and then after that, the end part where he goes a bit crazy, he sang TO ME!!! he was crawling on the stage towards me!!!! It was so exciting, i was manically smiling like an idiot!! haha!

The whole concert was amazing, but at the end, my boyfriend got chatting to the bass guitarist (steve?) as you do! he was outside having a cigarette. then before i know it, hes coming back from talking with most of the smashed guitar from 'you don't love me anymore'!!!!! i couldn't believe it.

We waited for about 20 more minutes in the vain hope that Al might pop out to say hi...but then a security guard came out and said 'Sorry guys, he doesn't want to come outside to do autographs because it's so cold' :( ............he then said 'But you can come in if you like!' :whoot:

We all got to go into the back and have photos and autographs! I now have a signed copy of 'bad hair day', a photo and a hug from Al, and a signed smashed guitar!!!!!!!! i am in disbelief right now! Honest to god, it was an absolute dream come true. I don't think it could have gone any better!!!! :inlove:

Just thought i'd share!!! :yay:

Wow, Sarah, sounds like you had an awesome night!! Congrats on being sung to by Al! I got the end of the song sung to me once, too. So amazing!! Did you melt in your chair?? Very cool that you got the smashed guitar, and that your boyfriend got to talk to Steve. He's so nice. Really glad you got to meet Al, and get a hug and a sig!! So happy for you!!
:whoot:
4 words that Al said to me that blew me away:

"How's Problem Child doing?" - 7/12/11

So awesome!

Sounds good Sarah, really excited about the London gig now.

Was there any support act? Also could you give us an idea on timings?

algonacchick, i didn't melt in my chair as it was standing hehe, but i literally couldnt stop myself from smiling lol, i was already grinning then as soon as he started singing to me, my mouth was like wide smiling and i couldn't stop!!! really awesome  I wish we'd got video of it...i'm just desperately hoping someone uploads a copy to youtube *fingers crossed!!*

Also, billy, there were no support acts but he really didn't need them - everyone was going mental! near the end, he did the whole 'pretend the shows finished but then actually come back out and play more songs' thing and while he was gone, everyone was going 'WE WANT MORE! WE WANT MORE!' and stamping their feet and clapping and yelling lol!! so funny! and timings wise, doors opened at 7, al came on at about 8 and it didnt finish til 10.30, so it was a pretty long show! although it didn't feel like it!

Steve, i honestly couldn't tell you if they took card or not........i would guess yes...but i didn't buy any merch cus i couldnt decide what to buy! might buy online instead.

It was awesome :inlove:

Sarah - I stood for an Al show once in Detroit. I wasn't sure I could stand for that long, but I had no trouble. I hope somebody puts your moment up on youtube as well. Someone filmed when Al sang to me, and I am so very grateful. *fingers crossed for you*

I really really hope they do too - someone has put up an 8 second clip of him in the crowd so im still hoping!!! I had no trouble standing for that long either - which is weird as i was standing for 2 hours previous waiting outside in the snow! i think the excitement kept me going! feeling tired today though :D
