It's true that the only reason Al didn't tour Europe to promote Lynwood was because he wasn't able to line up enough dates to justify the cost of lugging all their equipment over there...but (and I don't mean to bring anyone's hopes down) if the venue is providing all their own equipment (and they likely are, it being a festival) then a single one-off show might actually be the most affordable, and thus, likely option for Al.

Hey, anything that GETS him there.
I was thinking that, too. I don't think this will lead to a mini "tour" in that area. Maybe they will take just the necessities, but not everything. There are certain things Al and the band need to take, since that's what they're used to working with (like their own mics... sharing spit isn't cool). But things like the screen, some/most of the lighting (I'm sure they can provide a zillion PAR 64s, but they may not have enough dynamics), and the boards to run sound/light, maybe some amps since the UK has a different power system... those will probably already be there for them to use. I just hope they have enough power converters for what they do take :P .

But it's not very cheap, if you're only going for WAY :

Ticket Price: £165-£175 = US$ 242-258 , because it's a 3 day festival .

We'll wait for more news on WAY European Dates.

Has anyone heard of any of these other non-Godspeed bands?

Please note the ticket price also includes 3 days accommodation for you and your friends in an apartment on site so nice and comfortable compared to most festivals! There's also a huge swimming complex, free cinema, and lots of other good stuff.

They could always go into Toshi Station to pick up some power converters!

That's pretty cool! I agree, it sounds like a one-time deal. If this is a big musical festival, they'll likely have most of the equipment Al needs there already. What they don't have, or Al isn't willing to share, he can bring over. If things work out, maybe this will lead to more one-time deals in the future.

The festival sounds a bit expensive for the fans, if you're just going to see Al, but it might be your only opportunity, and it's cheaper than flying to U.S. or Canada.

Anyway, I'm glad they're finally getting a chance to play Europe. I hope the band and crew they send over can take some time to themselves and make a vacation out of it.
