And mrmeadows, uh....Al WILL be in it. Definitely an appearance. Just not as the star around whom everything revolves. It could be anything from a vital supporting role to a few-second cameo, but he WILL be in it.

And MAYBE I'M CRAZY, but I have a feeling Chris Hardwick will be in it somewhere too. That's just my wild prediction.

Awesome. I love watching non cartoons on Cartoon Network! I'd be interested to see if CN gets Al to do more than just a movie. I can just see him getting his own block of programming, Al Swim.

Only with one important difference...whatever he does for CN, it will in NO WAY be a shoehorned educational project! CN *HATES* educational smurf!

Don't dismiss this just because it's a "kids movie." Lots of kids movies are fun as hell, if the right talented people are behind them, and no worries about that here. I imagine this project will wind up looking something like what TWAS COULD'VE been if not for the bleeding FCC.

Right...which is why I said he wouldn't be in it "very much". I read his "I'll be making AN appearance" to mean it would be something closer to the few-second cameo than a full-on supporting role.

In any case, I hope he at least writes and sings a song for it. (Maybe his appearance in the movie will be a musical performance!)

Quite cool news, but I do hope Al's role is more than a 5-second cameo. Even better is that this will hopefully be the first of many Al projects on CN, as he said. Congrats Al!

While I do think it's wonderful news that Al is writing and directing a new movie, I am a little saddened by CN going live action. The C is for CARTOON. Like the M in MTV used to be for music and the V in VH1 used to be for video.

... it's a downward spiral.

I am very excited for this project and frankly would prefer Al to just have a small cameo rather than anything requiring acting chops. We have already seen Al act in a feature film, but we haven't seen him direct one. I am most interested in seeing how the mind of Weird Al applies itself to a feature when he doesn't have to worry about being in front of the camera at the same time.

Also, Al, if you are reading this I would love to work on the crew once you guys go into production!!!
